I didn't see any performance impact on my machine that's due to clouds (I put them on ULTRA for now but DCS crashed before I could test the other presets _ I doubt you can tell the difference between ULTRA and HIGH or even STANDARD in VR anyway but it needs testing). I also turned on SSAO which looks incredible. The problem is though, as mentioned in the Known Issues, the entire cloud layer dances up and down (not just distant clouds but everywhere). It's all gone on ultra, with no noticable performance hit. Got a few crashes too, but it's all good.
zildac
So there is a definite impact on performance in VR as it stands currently. My GPU frametimes are up about 4ms and my CPU frametimes are up, well I never even bothered looking at my CPU frametime before tbh. This is with clouds on "standard" on "high" it's even more noticeable. 12900KF | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 5200 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero

What I saw on standard, rain preset was some diagonal lines on the base of one cloud, forming a weird triangle. Very obvious and noticable. They seem to be fine on ultra. JayRoc
Yeah same for me. On Standart they look like minecraft and on ultra its fine. Its also nice to see that they limited the area that is rendered in VR like these shader-Mod.
