i never do that - what's the latest guidance on deleting shaders?

you don‘t necessarily have to do that, but it is often suggested to do - mainly in the VR-context.

I usually don‘t bother, but if I had issues, I‘d give a try...

Was that in VR with the G2 ? How's the performance ?

I didn't see any performance impact on my machine that's due to clouds (I put them on ULTRA for now but DCS crashed before I could test the other presets _ I doubt you can tell the difference between ULTRA and HIGH or even STANDARD in VR anyway but it needs testing). I also turned on SSAO which looks incredible.

The problem is though, as mentioned in the Known Issues, the entire cloud layer dances up and down (not just distant clouds but everywhere). This is incredibly annoying and I hope this will be fixed in the very short term...

The clouds on "standard" get some weird artifacts/patterns on them. It's all gone on ultra, with no noticable performance hit.

Got a few crashes too, but it's all good.

So there is a definite impact on performance in VR as it stands currently. My GPU frametimes are up about 4ms and my CPU frametimes are up, well I never even bothered looking at my CPU frametime before tbh. This is with clouds on "standard" on "high" it's even more noticeable.

Hmm... I saw weird artifacts on ULTRA as well, especially on the edges where they intersect with terrain.

What I saw on standard, rain preset was some diagonal lines on the base of one cloud, forming a weird triangle. Very obvious and noticable.

They seem to be fine on ultra.

Ultra, with dot abbreviated on causes issues, with the labels.

ultra clouds looks like minecraft. lol

on high I get dancing clouds.

on standard they are fine.

Hmm, when it's not crashing - 4 so far - I'm not seeing any hit in VR at all.  Very pleasantly surprised so far.

Downloaded and tested, one word: Spectacular, not only did the clouds feel a considerable improvement in textures and brightness.
Thanks ED, it was only worth the nearly 20 years that I have been with them.

I think I got lucky it seems stable (only flown for ten minutes) but a little disappointed with the performance decrease. I guess its the first pass at VR so hopefully tweaks will come.

Seems about the same to me. I don't even display fps counter, but I noticed no degradation in performance.
