A couple reminders to all teams that have joined or are thinking about joining.

WEAPON AND AIRCRAFT RESTRICTIONS (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)*

- Weapons Restrictions Diamond League: Each aircraft is permitted to carry a maximum of 6 active missiles with the exception of any Phoenix variant which is restricted to 4 until magic INS is fixed for the Tomcat. Each aircraft is also limited to carrying 2 9X, but can take unlimited of other 9 variants.

- Weapons banned Diamond League: Nukes

- Aircraft Banned Diamond League: FC3 F-15 Eagle

- Weapons restrictions Gold League: Each aircraft is permitted to carry a maximum of 6 active missiles with the exception of any Phoenix variant which is restricted to 4 until magic INS is fixed for the Tomcat.

- Weapons banned Gold League: 120C, 9X, Phoenix mk60, Phoenix C, Nukes

- Aircraft Banned Gold League: None

- Breaking payload rules during the round leads to an automatic loss of that round for the at fault team. If a payload infraction is noticed only after the match has concluded an automatic loss will be handed to that team at the time of ruling.

- Jester is banned from use in Diamond League. If an F14 is used in Diamond League both pilots must be human controlled. There is no limit on the number of pilots only the number of aircraft. Therefore if a team took 6 Tomcats they would need and be allowed 12 pilots. Jester is allowed in Gold League.

TEAM SCHEDULING OPTION

Due to scheduling issues with teams last year, the continued growth of SATAL, and the fact the SATAL is a truly global competition the SATAL team has decided that teams should have the option to schedule and fly matches on their own time This means that teams can fly any match at any time as long as it is scheduled and agreed upon by their opponents. Teams can also use their own servers if they wish for matches. In order for a match to be counted Tacviews and Tracks of each match must be submitted to the Splash One Gaming SATAL website (Further information on how to do this will be coming soon) and the match must take place before its scheduled date and time on the S1G site. Teams also have the option to utilize official DCS World Events servers if they so wish for official matches although scheduling and accommodations must be made ahead of time with Moltar. If the match is not flown early the match will take place at its scheduled time and date on DCS World Events servers.

Here is a pack of rough missions for Gold and Diamond. Disregard the name on the missions for the leagues as the missions will work for both. These are not done, but should have spawns at the airfields.

SATAL 2020

Id like to have a PvP/team meeting this upcoming weekend. Seems there has been some confusion this year in regards to several things and I think it would be good to get the PvP players of DCS together to have a chat about expectations for this year and thoughts about last year. Anyone is welcome at this meeting, but it will be focused around the squadrons and teams that will or have competed in SATAL in the past and this year. Agenda for this meeting will be for me to explain this upcoming years SATAL, what happened last year during the end of the year tournament with delays, and information exchange between myself, teams, and individuals.

See you all there.

Meeting Time - Saturday April 4 @ 1600z.

Meeting Location - Splash One Gaming Discord Voice Channels

Everyone please review the below as it is a significant change from last year.

Match Mission Selection

Instead of rolling for mission selection like we have done in the past, this year we will be utilizing a veto style selection process so that teams can have a limited say in which missions they would like to fly on. The process for mission selection is below.

- There are 19 missions options in total.

- Each team has a total of 9 bans that they must issue on missions that they select.

- Teams will take turns issuing bans 1 at a time, alternating after each selection, for each mission location that they do not wish to fly on.

- Diamond League will use the Diamond League mission set and Gold League the Gold League mission set.

- Once each team has selected 9 mission locations to ban the single mission that is left is the mission that will be flown for that match.

Short notice, but team lead meeting this Saturday @ 1700z. We need to get all of the teams together to chat about combining the 2 leagues since Diamond has far too few signups and about how scheduling and matches will work. Meeting will take place on the Splash One Gaming Discord. As many people from each squadron can join to listen, but I ask that we limit talking to squadron leads only as to make this meeting as productive as possible.

Meeting Details

Date: April 25th 2020

Time: 1700z

Place Splash One Gaming Discord DCS World Events Voice Channel

Dear Gold league participants,

To support Moltar, having a fair and balanced competition, we launch a document to him, discussing missiles and minimum abort ranges, based on facts we found out in several test runs.

We did this in private, because we revealed some numbers, which are quite useful in a competition and therefor like to keep to ourselves.

He recommended anyhow, to discuss that issue in the forum and, if we get the majority of teams behind us, he is willing to change the rules according to our recommendation. Here is now the letter we wrote with some blacked-out numbers:

See PDF file before you read on.

From the allowed weapons in the gold league matches the SD-10 is the longest stick, followed by AIM-54A MK47 and in third place but with quite a margin the AIM 120 B.

A 120C would rank between 54A and 120B and would close the gap a little bit.

You may ask, how easy are these active missiles to notch in comparison?

Well, the answer is: If a missile is later pitbull (meaning shorter distance to the target) and at higher speed you have less time to react and missile has more maneuvering potential.

Of course, velocity gate of the missile and chaff resistant also play a role. If that is assumed close to equal, the longer stick will be as well the better missile against notching targets. Again, no reason to ban the AIM120C.

All we ask for are logical and comprehensible rules, based on facts and not on feelings. If you come to a different result, again, based on facts, please let us know.

Otherwise we vote for a change of rules to allow 4 x AIM120C per aircraft.

You want 120C go fly diamond................

Reason people are not flying diamond is maybe the setup that has been put forward + To add maybe rounds should have server reset, After having warping issues before. 120B you want people to merge not fox-3 and run in the other direction where is the fun in that? People dont want to watch that they want a balls in deep fight. Aim-9x would be fine in gold tho.

How many kills are made by such long range shots in matches? Almost none. So why balance the game for this rare occasion?

In closer range the 120C is way to strong compared to the other missiles. Hyper maneuverable, very little drag and the hardest to notch.

If you want to have the 120C do all the work for you then there is diamond league.
