Hi all,

Can anybody suggest me a good/high-end joystick and pedals?.

I´m considering these three options for the joystick:

a) Saitek X52 Flight Control

b) Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System

c) Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar

Which is the best option?

For the pedals I have only one option...Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals..any other better alternative?

Thanks a lot,

Álvaro

If you're a Serious Virtual Aviator, ie in the Skies at least once in every day or two - go Cougar.

Foxy software an absolute pleasure and from a precision and durability perspective the Cougar wins by a Country Mile - and yes, I have had all three and both Saiteks found their way back to the Factory in Double-Quick time.

Like Viper said, if you want the absolute best... get the Cougar and mod it with IJ's gimbals and Hall Sensors. This option is very expensive and if you don't want to spend as much I think CH gear is second best.

Wait! Whoa!!!

Some dude's Cougar after about 200 hours...absolutely piece of cheap cast metal, yes. Unless you don't mind spending extra 4-500 bucks, get CH.

No offence but there is no way to have that much wear after 200h... more like flying for 1-2 years every day would make something like that... unless he put some extra metal particles in the grease to make it wear like that... or maybe even had no grease at all...

Again I'll never say Cougar with stock gimbal is the ultimate cause it isn't... but moded it is.

That's what the owner said in the thread where I got the pic. It's only recently that the Cougar is available in my country. I'd say less than a year but don't quote me on that. It's possible that he went overseas and brought one back, but I don't see why he would lie about how much time he had put in the stick. He wasn't asking for a refund. He wasn't moaning about the problem. He didn't cry foil or act like it's the end of the world. In fact, he said he took it to a machine shop and they quoted him around a 100 or so usd to fix.

I chuckle every time I hear someone brags about it being made of metal. They either never took it apart and behold the cheap ass, die casting metal or are in denial. TM used the cheapest possible material to make the whole thing so I'm not surprised if he really did use it for 200 hrs.

PigPen,

I had Cougar hotas w/ IJ's and Cub's mods. You can find my post at frugal when I bought it while living in the U.S. I sold them and regret the decision to this day. Man, I even threw in the Simped Vario Pro with the deal and all for 250 or 300 usd. Stupid me! But at that time I was moving back home and was strapped for US dollars. Bummer. Yes, a Cougar with new gimbal and hall fx sensors are very good. Damn good.

However, if you can live with a slide throttle and not so ergonomic stick design, a bit over sized, then a CH Hotas is the best there is. Period. I owned a CH fighter stick, pro throttle, pedals for six years, old gameport version, and they were still working before I left! And I kept hearing that CH control manager can do more than Foxy ever could.

Like I said, if you can live with slide throttle and a stick that doesn't fit like gloves in your hand then CH is it. Just trying to save you some $$$ is all. :)
