Hi,

for the people who have seen the BLACK SHARK and Played it I have a few questions for you.

1. Is the "Screen Shot" going to be a problem like in Flaming Clifs?

2. 10 meter radar bug fixed?

3. Can you control weather paterns in mission editor?

4. Extended On Line playing, will we need to "Exit then Re-enter" the servers to get our frame rates back up?

5. Will BS be compatible with "MOD-MAN" or will we need a new "MOD" management system?

6. What "Features" does "Digital" have that makes it a "Stand alone" softwear platform, or the difference between LOMAC engin and the DCS?

7. When fighters are released like the F-15 will it be "Modeled" properly or will we experience another comunity breakdown like FC release.

8. With 40+ programers working on DCS can we be asured that "Hacks" will not be possible in the DCS?

9. Also as I have stated on previous topics, RECRUTEMENT AND MARKETING DCS. WILL ED RETHINK THERE MARKETING TACTICS? Example, yes Wal-Mart, Best-Buy, ect, will floor DCS and ED has a consumer base which is known. I truly feel that we can take DCS to the next "LEVEL" in the consumers eye. We need more conventions, public awearness, and contests. As we all know "Black Sea Show Down, Red-Flag, Coop-Archer, ect- Has tightened the "SMALL" LOMAC comunity togeather. I truly feel that if ED and external team members "Show there faces" or at least "Stop in to chat" our grass root operations will sead new players and also will keep ED consumers with in the ED product venue. We know ED and team works hard but some of us consumers would like to see DCS take a new leap in comunication, consumer input, comunity involvement, and pride in our HOBBY.

Theres tons of talent out there but being uniqe is a whole new realm of being.

Not sure if they were really meant to be rhetorical questions, but 6 - 8 seem fairly straight forward...

- I can't comment on 1-6 as I'm not a tester & I suspect they won't because 1 to 5 sound like the kind of thing an NDA would cover (Though EB1 might cough up an answer to some ???)

But

6 can be answered by looking at the DCS front page & FAQ.

7 could be paraphrased as 'do you intend to do a cr*p job of your DCS F-15 release' and if you even suspect that the answer to that is yes, why are you here ?

and

8 - well now, how many programmers work for microsoft ? Does this mean we can we be assured there will be no 'hacks' for Vista?

I agree with you about 9 though - there are a few people I work with that use MSFS & most have heard of Falcon in its itterations, a couple have heard of LO, none had heard of LOFC, & even someone who was looking around for a helicopter sim hadn't heard of BS ,so a bit more publicity in the West might do the game sales, & therefore the community, a bit of good (the review in SimHQ was a very good start ).

Thanks for your responce,

Number 7, Its not that I think they will do a "Bad moddel" of the F-15 im wondering if we will run into the same issue of ED "Making the fighter Jets fair" like we saw in Flaming Clifs with the F-15, 120, AIM9, F-15 high alt performance, IFF, ect. Or will we get the jets moddeled right reguardles of its the Mig29, Su-27, F-15. I think my question can be answered by some of the big fish at ED.

8. The reason why I ask is due to the fact that some people "Hack" LOFC code. Will there be a safe guard or some sort of "Punk-Buster" to asure fair ON LINE gamming? We dont have any protection in LOFC.

I cant wait for the Black Shark to come out it looks great its going to be a good time learning all of the thingamajigerdoohickies on the KA-50.

DCS is not about fairness - it's about high quality simulation. 'Fairness' will have to be demonstrated in some other way ... more realistically, by perhaps increasing the number of opponents.

And what do you mean by 'community break down?' The F-15 will be rightfully hated by anyone not flying an advanced flanker - that's community breakdown material if there ever was any ;)

Similarily, viper pilots will likely not be fond of an advanced flanker ...

As for 2 ... that's no bug, it's in there deliberately in LOMAC.

And for 6 ... what 'features' make any piece of software stand alone? If you can't see what makes it unique when you buy it, you never will - and that's not terribly surprising for someone who (I assume) doesn't do any programming, or at best merely dabbles in it. As such any explanation is a waste of time - the decision to put all new efforts into DCS and not LO has been made, and the answers to your sample questions are in the FAQ.

As for 9, it's none of your business, nor ours as beta testers, really; as for communication etc, ED has been fairly forthcoming - what more do you want? Updates on every bug fixed in the beta? Won't happen.

Regarding 8 - ED will put as many safeguards as they can without breaking things, but security is not the number one concern and with no people dedicated to it (I assume, anyway) things are bound to slip here and there. Regardless, BS seems to have a tighter reign on things than LO.

Ok Mr GG Did you read the rules no personal attaks. You do not know who, what, where, my education level, programing experience, ect.

JUST ANSWER THE QUESTIONS WITHOUT GETTING PERSONAL!

That was not an attack, therefore the 'I assume'. It's a fact that people who don't do much programming won't really understand that there are things happening 'under the hood' - in fact to most people if there's no visual change, they treat it as if no work has been done.

Your answers are in the FAQ though.

hi

Right,

Things under the hood sound great.

Do you think that there will be some sort of "Punk-Buster"? for on line playing.

Thanks,

I think protection will be simpler, perhaps in terms of disabling print-screen during MP and something much like the payload editing preventions on the Su-25T, but nothing is really confirmed in that respect yet - there are many areas that require work in terms of security, but sadly security is also very resource intensive :(
