Mig-21 FPS Drops, unplayable, video added...

Stable player here, when flying with terrain ahead and suitably low enough flying the MiG-21 with the RADAR on becomes pretty unplayable, flying over open water or switching the RADAR to standby or off, fixes performance instantly.

This issue was first reported in late March. That is a long time for a major bug.

A lot of players have Nvidia cards and they like to be able to use radar without FPS

dropping to an unplayable state. It has to be fixed and resolved.

@Hiromachi, what is the latest word on this? If ED is working on a solution,

maybe @NineLine can give some info on what is being done about this issue?

I will be testing a few reported issues over the course of the weekend and will ask if there is any update on the radar issue.

Same thing happens here, seems to be happening when there is "ground clutter" picked up by the radar.

It will be really great if this problem becomes apparent.

The MiG-21bis is so well heard and wants to enjoy it to the full again.

Yes. We're working on a less sophisticated rather screen picture, with less clutter presented on the screen. I'm not sure if it will come with this, most likely with a next, major update for the DCS. It's still WIP.

Of course, its only temporal solution.

Hi guys,

Here is the video, only Mig-21 module is having fps drops by now. System specs are in video.

Best Regards.

Is there any fix for this? It renders my game completely unplayable if I turn the MiG-21bis' radar on. I am desperate. DCS Tech Support has no interest helping me.

Any update? I almost refunded the MiG-21bis module before realizing that the issue was due to the MiG-21's radar, no thanks to Tech Support.

I know is not the best solution but nvidia drivers 442.19 solves the problem completly. They are very stable on my rig with good overall perfomance. Worth a try.

Same issue here with the mig21 radar. Issue is more noticeable when I play on monitor compared to VR, due to the higher details and lack of reprojection. I run an Nvidia Asus RTX 3090 OC. What technique do you use for the render in the radar clutter? It's some kind of perlin noise combined to texture UV shifting? Particles?

Can confirm the issue with major FS drop when radar is on. Same situation in VR, although not as apparent as in 2d.

Will keep bumping this thread. Rolling back drivers is not a fix. It is a bandaid. Also, turning off ground clutter and weather on the radar does not work anymore. So, in my mind, this problem is getting worse.

Bump.

One of the most enjoyable modules to fly and fight with, it's a pity it's unplayable under common circumstances (clouds, ground clutter).

Last night I ended up leaving it aside until this problem will be sorted out.

I really hope this will be fixed asap.
