DCSlockup during start

Recommended Posts

Hello,

When launching my DCS World Openbeta 2.5.6, in 2 out of 3 times, the program freezes up on the attached startup screen. Then, i'm able to exit the program via "ctrl-alt-del" going into the taskmanager to end the DCS program. Afterwards, when i select the repair function, it sometimes enables me to get in the DCS World afterwards. I already tried with my antivirus software switched of, no change....

Can somebody assist on this?

Kind Regards,

Eric

Does it generate a DCS log file? If so, please post as it may give some clues

Make a backup of your Saved Games folder and delete it. then try to start DCS again.

Also - if you have been trialling planes from the sale uninstall the modules and then run a repair of the OB. This fixed a similar issue for me

I have located the problem and it's in the saved games folder. Not sure which specific folder it is yet. Anyway, make a copy of your DCS Open beta folder or just rename it with '-' or whatever to stop it loading. Start the game and you will have to redo your options and preferences. Then put your config file back from the renamed folder to the newly generated one. Also your missions folder, problem solved.

I would like to know why this error occured in the first place so I shall wait until my support ticket has been answered as it needs to be sorted out by ED.

The log is a dcs.log, the forum does not like this format.

Change it to dcs.txt or zip it and you will be able to attach it.

thank you

I've experienced frequent freezes during program start with 2.6.6

Because the program took so long to start (just perception, I did not measure the time), I tended to look at my mail or open an Excel file e.a. and that tended to stop the program start for DCS World.

I have therefore stopped messing with other programs while DCS World is loading, and since that time I have not seen any more freezes.

PS: DCS World now takes about 1/2 minute to load and that doesn't seem excessive.

I have also found this causes the program to go unresponsive so have also learned to wait patiently
