Few questions on LO

• How step by step can we make a formation of different planes ?
  
• What exactly is clipping ?
  
• Which of the volume settings sliders corresponds to betty? i dont seem to find out how to lower the volume of nagging betty (annoying over-G and pull-up).
  
• Is it possible to have more than one LO installations on the same system? for example, a LO, a FC, a moded FC etc. would modman have any control on which one to apply modifications?

How step by step can we make a formation of different planes ?

 

If you are talking about you and AI, i dont know.. and i dont think its possible..

If you are talking about another online friend and you, You need to setup a mission with 2 different aircrafts. One for you and one for other pilot. And fly online :)

 

What exactly is clipping ?

If its view clipping you asking. Its the angle and minimum viewable distance of the camera

As far as i know there is'nt a setting for these annoying warning massages..

i just deleted (renamed) them from their respective folders..

errr sorry i didnt clearify this, i meant both purely AI formation ("flight") and Player-AI formation ("flight"). For example a flight consisting of either a player and few other AI planes or a full AI flight, of different planes flying in close formation ... Also a pitty that there are no formation type options .....

I am talking about the clipping mentioned in graphics settings. I wondered if its about when (distance from player) an object is drawn, appears, and in how many steps its fade-in transition would be ... How do we control those two factors? is it any of the settings in MODMAN?

It was in Lock On\Config\View\view.cfg i guess..at least the angles was there..

You can't using the normal methods. You have to do it as individual flights flying close together. If you want four different aircraft in a formation, you have to have four separate flights with parallel flight paths. And there's a minimal separation that they will seek to maintain. So they won't fly very close together.

In graphics.cfg it's the minimum and maximum distances at which objects or parts of objects will be drawn.

I have something like 8 variations of LOMAC and FC on my hard drive. So the answer is "yes". But you have to plan to have multiple copies right from the start. So, with no copies installed:

 

1) Install V1.0. Remember what it's folder is called; EG: "LOMAC".

 

2) Create a 2nd folder called "Base" or something. Copy the V1.0 files to that folder.

 

3) Install the V1.02 patch. That will update the original installation to V.102. Rename it's folder something like "LOMAC V1.02".

 

4) Create a new folder and give it the name of your original V1.0 installation; EG: "LOMAC".

 

5) Copy the files from the "Base" folder and paste them into the empty "LOMAC" folder.

 

6) Run the V1.12b (or "a") patch. Rename this folder "Flaming Cliffs V1.12" or whatever your heart desires.

 

You get the idea....

I did the custom formation thing with separate airgroups , it woudln't work with flights, as every flight (and all its aircraft) is represented by a single aircraft symbol in the mission editor . The way to do it is to have separate airgroups and place them as close as you want manualy with the mouse and keep their waypoints parrallel in whatever alignment you like, spearhead, egress etc

Hold up, you have EIGHT LO installations Ironhand? Wow... Anyway, that actually answered a question of my own, the multiple installations thing. I tried to get plain LOMAC but it wouldn't let me, and I don't think I'm smart enough to go through all that rigamarole just to add a downgrade ("Add a Downgrade" sounds like a Windows Vista reality show, no?). Oh well, Happy New Year to all!
