[REPORTED]AIM-7M Loft Profile

bear.is.flying

Recommended Posts

Problem: The AIM-7M lofts aggressively, even at very short ranges (~5-6 nm!)

This causes the missile to waste energy on a longer and inefficient trajectory. It can even fly right over a close-range bandit!

Work around: The AIM-7MH flies a flatter profile and hits faster at close ranges.

Track attached. The F-15C first shoots a 7M followed immediately by a 7MH at 6 nm head-on. Bandit is at 1000 ft, launching fighter is at 5000 ft.
