Remove WWII Fantasy Skins from Mission Editor

WWII has become very popular with two excellent servers (LFDM and Storm of War) and the current free trial. Please, can the 'fantasy' and racing skins be removed from the Mission Editor (or at least allow them to be removed)? Both server hosts have removed skin selection because a very few guys choose to fly these inaccurate skins, ruining the experience for everyone. This means guys (and gals) can't choose a squadron specific skin to fly together and help with air to air identification. Thanks!

It would be appreciated by the whole historical community, if all special, racing and fictional skins be separated from the historical and national skins in multiplayer. For example make it a server realism setting to limit skins to country/team. Or create a new country containing all the special and non-historical skins. As an example, a new country called "Special" for all of these non-combat, fictional and unhistorical skins.

Because spawning player aircraft online are country/team bound, by placing the fictional/special skins in a separate country allows mission makers to exclude them from the participants list in the mission. This will allow mission makers to limit skins to historical skins only.

This separation of skins into their historically correct country exists already but is not complete. As mentioned above, there is a Japanese skin under the Third Reich country, which should be under its own country Japan.

At the same time, also allow mission creators to allow players to choose from ALL skins (regardless of which country the skin belongs to vs the country the plane belongs to), for free flight missions to allow users to select any available skin.

Please no. I like being able to assign a plane to another country. Red has no non fc3 planes(jf-17 is debatable). A corsair will release long before a zero. An option to set them in the ME then lock them online in server would be fine but don't make them go away.

This may be valid for modern aircraft but for warbirds it doesn't make any sense, it would be enough to create a "fantasy" country and put in the non-historical skins.

But people just remove the country tag from the description lua's and any livery is available again. Only way to restrict is is by the mission not allowing it to be changed and setting the ones they want.

OR those that find those skins disruptive to their enjoyment, not have them available on their machine.

Either way, its not really up to ED to control.

By the way, ever hear of this guy called the Red Baron? He went beyond military protocol and he and his men painted their war planes in crazy, unrealistic, non-military colors.

And why did he do that? hmmm???

To disrupt and disturb the opponent. To let them know that HE and his group were in the air. This is not so far off of that premise as people choose "non-standard" paint schemes if allowed.

So, if going for a specific history accuracy, yes, the server can lock it down, and if the server does not have the livery you desire, make the request to have it added to the mission. If not, just remind yourself that the enemy is just trying to get in your head with his choice of livery.

Do you let him???

I've been on servers were the server has disabled the ability to change a skin, so don't we already have a solution to this problem?

We are talking about giving mission makers the ability to choose what skins are available to players without having to disable the ability to change skins.

E.g. A mission maker should be able to remove the Japanese skins from the livery list for the FW190A8. Or remove the racing skins from the ME109 livery list.

This is a big deal for people who fly as a group and want to be able to choose the same skin. At the moment servers have this feature disabled because they don't want to see fictional/racing skins all through their WW2 mission.

It should be an option available to mission makers.

Can always report and kick/ban people for doing this.

Nobody will notice it. Two pilots will change the name of the painting, and select it from radio menu. Nobody expect this two can see their skins, they may got even pink skins for better recognition.

LOL...

You guys and your first world problems.

I fly VR. Everything is a pixel until it shoots at me. Then it's an enemy pixel.

Kinda kidding... That said... With the old HTC Vive it was really like that. Haven't tried WWII with the reverb yet.
