There are some complains about fps and looks of VR from people with unrealistic expectations or too ambitious settings.

Nevertheless I can not remember my VR ever looked close to a potato. I do not even like potatoes.

In contrary I enjoy fluid frame rates that provide an amazing experience of speed in low level flight and fabulous immersion during aerial maneuvers. In fact we are blessed to be the first to enjoy this level of simulated flight at our homes. I am grateful for this and I am also looking forward to the future develpment of VR software and hardware. But now is the time to enjoy what we have at our hands ;-)

(Too) Long-time flightsimmer . I also find these times very exciting indeed . Having an amazing experience now , and looking forward to 30xx or RDNA2 to put the icing on the cake . And Vulkan is coming...

Fully agree , now is the time...

No one is saying the tech is mature . We all look forward to better hardware and software implementations . But many of us see gravy with our potatoes :)

i expected at least somebody to actually attempt a sensible answer, guess i overestimated the iq of the forum dwellers here

Maybe the potato remark was a poor way to start a sensible topic to begin with.

Because you posed a question exhibiting a bias , dug your hole even deeper with the iq comment , and because the answers are available all over the vr forum .

How many posts have you seen with greater than 9900k/2080ti ? Would you accept a single answer from one who might have a better system as determinative ? Do you understand the nature of subjectivity ?

Were i seriously seeking an answer to such a question , i would pm Aurelious . He has substantial DCS and VR experience , and access to a university VR lab , with the best available equipment .

But i'm not smart enough to do that so...

LoL

No limit = go to a shop, wave the Platinum Card.

If you want something for free, like an answer to a question, well, that works a bit different

but you are finding it out, sooner or later.

You have to know for some VR is religion. And over religion wars have started.

And yes, calling VR looking like potatoes ia a sacrileg. It does not matter if false or true.

But Im kind of with you, that VR in DCS looks like potatos. And wanting to have 1080p-monitor-quality with decent fps is not unrealistic!

Anyway, after selling a RiftS, Index and Reverb, Im putting my hopes on the G2 Reverb or the next Samsung Hmd. With some technical advances in DCS (Vulcan and multicore-Cpu-support) next year could be the year for finally getting a good experience with VR in DCS. The problem right IMO is, that the VR-implementation of DCS still is rather poor and an RTX3080Ti on its own wont change this.

But of course thats all personal taste. Some like potatoes, others dont.

Because you posed a question exhibiting a bias

bias?? i have a decent system and cannot get what i consider to be good fps without making the game pretty jaggy visually, ive jumped through multiple hoops/optimized this that and the other but its still frustratingly difficult even compared to other games like elite dangerous.

wheres the bias??

, dug your hole even deeper with the iq comment , and because the answers are available all over the vr forum.

i have looked on the forum and found nothing conclusive, i asked a pretty straight forward question and got silly answers

ok im unaware of him, il go and find him

You appear to be putting words in my mouth :) Two of the three last sentences are not what i said . Don't do that !

Knowledge can be gained through the application of intelligence . You can quote me on that !

dont forget two pairs of the SteamVR Base Stations, 449,- per pair, for a total of 6.893,-€ for VR equipment.

Add a great PC for 3.500€, a good Hotas for 1.500€...and you easily break 10 grand.

Look at it this way - some folk will spend 10k+ on a sportsbike for summer weekend use, or on a watch which they only wear on special occasions, etc.

10k for a system which could be in almost daily use and offer many hundreds of hours of enjoyment could be seen as pretty good value.

At least, that is how I will attempt to justify it to the wife. :megalol:
