Phases pretty much came to be, with the steps listed in the link below:

http://leatherneck-sim.com/2019/01/23/looking-beyond-the-horizon/

Phase 1: for external model is finished. Cockpit is still WIP pending canopy animation issues.

Phase 2: complete new 3d/textures for the external and cockpit.

Phase 1, are basically band-aides, until Phase 2 is release. And no, there is no estimated time yet.

Since DCS just received patch, was this May xx update included on it?

Nothing on changelog. Hardly there will be another patch this week and May is almost over.

The patch released today is just a hotfix for the Super Carrier and anything ED module related.

Yes that's correct, Phase 1 corrections line up , but the Phase 1 Internal is not ready for release due to some animation errors and RoughMets / Lights needing adjustments since the release of 2.5.6. It's still the old cockpit, just fitted.

Next patch will be the cockpit still in use, unfitted.

Phase 2, is complete new mesh/textures of external/internal

So are you gonna rework the textures and model from scratch? Seems like a lot of work...

Trust me, compared to 2010 and now, we've gained much more experience and acquired more resources than ever.

With the advent of 3d scanning and photogrammetry service, the MiG-21 will e better than ever in the coming years.

Very stoked about this! Really looking forwards to the new Cockpit. @Rudel Do say the new cockpit coming with phase 2 is/will be created from laser scans? And i'd like to encourgae you to really go all out on the texture quality inside the cockpit. For instance, i was on the fence between getting the Mig-19 or Mig-21. But the textures in the Mig-19 on the fuselage frames where the canopy rests when closed are pretty pixelated (which you only see with an open cockpit), so i opted to get the Mig-21 because there is a good chance the new cockpit will be of very high quality. It's attention to small details like this that make for a great module.

That is good to hear that you'll keep working on the 21 in the years to come. However my concern was mainly for other upcoming modules like the F4U and F-8J, which a lot of people are very excited for and would like to have in their sims in the not too distant future. Especially the F-8J is an excellent rival for the 21bis.

Grass grows.

Birds fly.

Sun shines.

And -Rudel-? He counts rivots.

He's a force'a nature.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
