Hi guys,

I hope everybody is well protected during this pandemia craziness.

Today I decided to make one of my Quick Checklists for the upcoming P-47D Thunderbolt module. I got it from the vídeo previews out there, from talks I remember with brazilians WWII veterans and from the original manual. Yep, I do have an original 1943 P-47D-25-35 manual. I also have the P-47B,C up to -23 Razorback and the P-36 Curtiss originals. I thought about scanning it to a PDF but with the way it’s binded I am sure I’d damage it, so it’s big no no for me.

Nope, I don’t have the module yet, although I wouldn’t mind if ED make it available to me so I’d make an English and a Portugueses review... :music_whistling: (I gotta try... :D )

Anyway, here goes the link for the P-47D Quick Checklist Download Page.

This is how it looks like:

Btw, as I don’t have the module yet (ED, here is your second chance :D ) the path for the kneeboard is just a guess for now.

All the best,

Sydy

When would you turn on the fuel booster rheostat, and at what altitude would you turn it off again?

Also, the manual I have states that the boost and the throttle should not be connected, but the throttle pushed fully forward and add as much turbo as needed to get 52 inches of mp. You get 300 more horse powers this way. Not sure which one is correct, or was used in real life.

Reflected, I will double check on the manual and I will post here. I will try to photograph the page.

Hi Reflected,

Just read the manual carefully. Here goes for the two questions:

1. You keep the rheostat on START & ALTITUDE always, unless you have and emergency and your fuel pressure drops. If so, then you move ir clock-wise to by-pass the electrical pumps.

2. The Engine controls interconnection may be kept until the “critical altitude”. It is not a fixed one, but it is when the BOOSTER tachometer reaches 20.000 rpm. You may go for 22.000 rpm on the booster for 15min. The other constraint to disconnect the Booster Lever from the Throttle Lever is if the engine starts pulsating.

I will put some pages as attachments here so you may check yourself and have no “interpretation” mishap! :D

I also notice I may improve the Quick Checklist with some good engine parameters. I probably will do so when they release the module.

All the best,

Sydy

Thanks a lot Syddy, much appreciated. Looks like I have the manual for an older version.

My pleasure!

I found out there is an “h” missing in the Rheost. in the Quick Checklist. In Portuguese Rheostat is “Reostato” and I just mixed it. I will fix it in the next version. I am also planning to include some lights, gunsight and cruise regime numbers on the checklist.

All the best,

Gents,

Update Vs 1.2 is up with some Improved Engine Data, typo correction and some better format.

Edit: Next version only when module is out and I test it a bit.

thanks buddy appreciate your work!

My pleasure, Enduro14. I think vs 1.3 is pretty much a good deal. Looking forward flying it.

Edit: let me hold off just a moment to check something. You know what they say about assumptions...

Very nice checklist SYDY thank you very much!

Just a quick aside once you get into the kneeboard files, and there isn't a file for the Thunderbolt just right click to create a new folder and name it P-47D-30. Drop the checklist in there and it worked great!

Hi Cool Breeze,

Perfect observation! I already fixed the folder structure in the .rar file so new downloaders will not have any problem. Checklist still the 1.3 vs, but the file is with correct path now.

Thank you for using the checklist.

All the best,
