Updater keeps on stopping dowload during OB Update

Recommended Posts

Been a user of DCS for about 4 months now and have had no issues downloading updates. However now after usual 'Do you want to update...?' message and then try updating Open Beta from v2.5.6.49798 to latest v2.5.6.50321.

Updater (v2.9.17.19) will start to download and after a while it just stops downloading the update. I hit cancel and DCS loads as usual. The <autoupdate_log.txt> Log says 'canceled by user'. I have re-started DCS multiple times, try to update and it downloads a little more, then stops downloading.

This happens even if I leave it running overnight. Never had this problem before. Maybe I'll try running updater using command line...

[edit] - running <...\bin\DCS_Updater.exe update @openbeta >, well it _almost_ made it to the end, then hung once again. Damn...

UPDATE - now works

Just updated from OB 4.5.6.49314 to OB 2.5.6.50979 last night and had no lockup or freezing issues. Every thing seemed normal.

I'm glad it worked for you. I'm still having freezing issues and still stuck at 16,420.5 Mb remaining. It's been nearly a month and even support doesn't seem to be able to figure this out.

OB won't update. Stable crashes every time I run it and even causes my graphics card to need to be reinstalled. I may need to just delete DCS completely and move on if this keeps up.

I performed a '>DCS_Updater cleanup' and '>DCS_Updater repair'. After removing any mods. I'm not sure if that is what fixed the install, but at least I'm now up-to-date on OB.

I got it updated just now but I had to completely uninstall DCS and reinstall open beta without transferring the modules over from stable. It's a mess but at least it's working again.

Update:

I reinstalled each module individually and found that it was the Persian Gulf map that was causing my problem. I still can't install and update that without it freezing on me. Thankfully I am able to use all the other modules I have.

Having the same problem again. Almost made it to the end and Updater froze the download. Tried again and only got about 1/4 through before freezing. Cleanup and Repair, trying again. Damn man...

Hi Noluck, could you please attach your autoupdate_log.txt file please?

I will. As of today, I'm once again experiencing the same issue. Trying to update from 2.5.6.49789 to the latest OB. Updater will download for a while or a short time and just quit. I have to manually stop it and re-start Updater.

It's on the third restart and download try right now as of today. Here are the current and 'old' autoupdate_log.txt files.

Cheers

There are several interesting things to see.

For a very long time, your OB was missing 4 game updates (.50321, .50726, .50793, .50979). It seems like the updater wouldn't detect these. Do you have an idea why? Had you chosen not to apply these patches?

About your 2 first cancelations: it seems the donwload was not "frozen", but the game was unzipping and installing stuff. Maybe it got stuck in the process... I don't know. When this happens, you should monitor your drives thanks to the Ctrl+Alt+Del menu: look for activity on your DCS drive (which seems to be C:\).

Your third cancelation came while data was being downloaded. You canceled after 75 minutes of downloading. What is you connection? Fiber, xDSL, something else?

Don't accept indie game testing requests from friends in Discord. Ever.
