Physics Card - Hardware Acceleration

Recommended Posts

I have a motherboard with 3 PCIX slots. I have 2 PCIX GeForce cards with SLI bridge and it's all that. But I have 1 slot that's empty and I was told to put a physics card in that slot. Do any of you use one? Does Lock On take advantage of it? If so, what kind do you recommend? How good is the performance increase?

PPU is a waste of money IMHO.

True, but only because of the logistics of it all. Who really wants to spend more money on another peice of hardware? Having to go back to the 3D accelerator days. But, if a common API is eventually chosen, and GPU's (which are more suited for the task) include the design needed, then I think it could be a good advancement.

I think nVidia buying Ageia, is the best thing that Ageia could have hoped for.

I bought an Ageia card back in 2006, and for the 2 or 3 games that support it, it's totally amazing, but nothing else even knows it's there...

I wish I'd spent the money it cost on another GeForce 7950 GX2
