[CORRECT AS IS] the trees are too big

Great. Now I can never look at the trees in the same light. Almost 90% are as big as 5 story building. Never noticed that.

My 3.2m height flat is on the fifth floor. It is summer and trees are obstructing the view right now.

Do you live in Syria, in the city of the video?

*) doesn't mean that tall trees are not possible.

The problem is not the possible height of the trees, but that there ain't so much variation of the height or shape of the trees.

DCS received not so long time ago a speedtree technology (it was brought in the Caucasus 2.5 update), that is allowing easily generate random trees across large distances:

We have just a few different trees in Caucasus and just few different heights, lacking lots of scattering and uneven distribution at the edges of forests island and such.

When flying low, one starts to spot more of these patterns and at high it is still easy to spot these tight/dense/concentrated forest areas and then lots of empty space.

IMHO one of the greatest things to happen was to see more individual trees here and there across the maps, as it just adds more clutter and more "real life" kind terrains. And it could be that just little less trees in those areas could not just little (hypothetical) lower the performance requirements, but add more clutter via that spacing. As for some reasons I sometimes digg the old simulators terrains by very scattered trees, but then again many times like the DCS one.

As for some reason there ain't so much shorter trees and bushes used in DCS, but mainly all those tall trees are everywhere.

check the pine trees.

sure, you'll find on wikipedia that they can grow up to 20m in height, however those big ones will have a different appearance than the ones seen in the map.

it just looks wrong. maybe you're right and the uniformity of height is a factor.

you.... do know trees can grow to be quite tall, right?

But that all trees are at their maximum height is not right.

That is one of the problems visually that almost all trees are at maximum height and size. It just makes everything look big. And so on no sense of scale exist same way.

Like you do know that it can take centuries for trees grow maximum size? Decades for some etc.

We need more variation for the trees types that not majority is largest possible.

They could use some work to define them better but i would say overall they are pretty accurate

The thing that i am not certain on is that in the video still below, the grass area to the right of the monument which matt is flying over is not meant to be a grass area as per the attached image...

Hmm, maybe based on a certain historic date in which the building (theatre area? who knows?) was not there?

Would be nice to have verified what date the map is based on actually

Believe it or not, most trees in a forest or large clump tend to be of similar size, especially when viewed from outside. Adult trees of a given species, unsurprisingly grouped into a region, are, shockingly, usually about the same size.
