DCS 2.7 shader edits

Out of curiosity, and because this is becoming a more frequent question: Does this mod have to go in the root folder, or can it be installed in Saved Games?

I recommend the use of a MOD enabler I personally use JSGME you can use it to install this MOD and deactivated when no longer needed or if the MOD was updated this way you can avoid corrupting you main DCS install.

OVGME is better.

JSGME is 32-bit and cannot handle DCS World's large folder size for snapshots. OvGME is 64-bit and can.

JSGME won't let you disable a mod that got files overwritten by another mod. In OVGME you can.

Any recommended settings for use with this mod?

I use Standard clouds, Rain 2 profile, gama is 1-1.2 and there some places so super bright that I can do much more to adjust.

I think we need some more tech in DCSW, a smarter way to display lights.

This doesn't affect shadows AFAIK, are you thinking of @Mustang "shadows" mod?

Hi! First of all, thanks for doing this work you guys!

I just want to double check something. I currently have the latest 2.7 version of the kegetys mod installed. If I want to use the shader on this thread, do I need to disable the kegetys version first?

Also, can I use this in conjunction with the reshader mod described in this thread:

Thanks!

^ No, you don't need to disable Kegetys

Did someone compare this shader mod with the new universal VR shader? I fly VR exclusively and have used Mustang's shader mod so far with 2.5.6. Just upgraded to 2.7 and wanted to know which one to use, I guess using them both at the same time might give some unwanted effects? Thanks for any info.

So can I assume that this is for MP only? Any hope of one for SP?

Thanks Mustang! re  tonemap.fx  are the changes from there important, i ask because it collides with the same file that was changed by Kegetys?

Bizzarely OVGME doesn't warn me about the Tonemap.fx clash with Kegetys! I have no idea why. It warns me for other clashes, and I can see the files is being copied in. Odd.

I do so too, any news on this?
Any performance difference between them?

Yeah I slightly altered the haze a bit to mask some of the overly blue horizon that's seen at certain times, I personally have not found this to have degraded the image quality.

DO NOT use 2.5.6 version with 2.7 as it will cause problems, performance should be no different from stock.

I was curious about the difference between Mustang's shader mod 2.7 and the universal VR shader mod by fholger. From the description they do largely similar things, although fholger's works on VR only. Was wondering if anybody flying VR compared the two regarding effect and performance, and if there is any point in combining the two mods? Thanks!

They both do VERY different things, and fholgers also works in 2d. Yes I have compared them both in terms of performance broadly, fholgers has a net impact on gpu frame time (it gets worse) and Mustangs o.2 had almost no impact I haven’t formally tested 0.7

@Mustang I also was not compleatly clear when I asked my question but I greatly appreciate your response!

I also have 2.7 installed and was curious about the performance difference between this and fHolger Shaders in 2.7, if there can be any comparison...

I'm a starving airline worker at the moment and still have to make it work with a highly overclocked 4th Gen i7 on a CV1... 😟

I will quote myself :

Quote

I am seeing between 0.7 and 1.5ms GPU impact and around 0.2ms impact to CPU...

this is for fHolgers shaders, and nothing measurable for Mustangs... they do very different things.
