Situation:

21.05.1985, 0600 am, south of Beslan airbase. (The type of weather is determined in your signup - check notes below)

The Red forces have launched a sudden ground attack just a few kilometers from the borderline from the town of Kazbegi. A T-72B tank group has been carefully selected for this special operation backed by a group of elite BMP-2 crew members. In addition, two Ka-50's were transferred two days ago from Tbilisi to FARP Vetka at Kazbegi town to support Red ground forces in the upcoming battle.

Operation Behind Enemy Lines has been unleashed!

The Blue forces use Beslan airbase as their front-line position. Over the last week, Red MiG-25's have been flying at high altitudes across the borderline for several minutes before disappearing again. Last night, a single MiG-25 flew over Beslan airbase at an altitude of 22,000 meters while flying at an airspeed of Mach 2.1. Little Blue knew that the Red airforce was conducting reconnaissance missions. Nevertheless, Blue forces at Beslan airbase were set at high alert!

A few hours ago two Ch-47's left Beslan evacuating a certain number of VIP's in case anything should happen. A Hawk SAM site has been established north of Beslan airbase and two SAM Avengers are now fully loaded and operational.

Beslan airbase has been undergoing some renovations as of late. The very reason Blue had only two A-10A's, two SA342M's and a small number of ground units.

Red has looked forward to this operation for a long time. And it seems to them that the odds are in their favour. However, the Blue forces will fight to death to hold the line.

Let the better men honour their nation with a decent victory, and the dead rest in peace.

Red Forces:

2 x Ka-50's

16 x T-72B's

8 x BMP-2's

4 x SA-13 Strela's

1 x SA-15 Tor

Blue Forces:

2 x A-10A's

2 x SA342M's

8 x M1A2 Abrams tanks

4 x M2A2 Bradley's

2 x SAM Avengers

1 x SAM Hawk site

Red Objective:

The objective is to capture Beslan airbase!

Destroying the enemy's ground and aerial forces will simply help us get there, so show them no mercy.

It's time to secure the northern borders.

Ka-50's:

- Your top priority targets are the enemy's MBT's - Abrams!

- Be aware of the enemy's SAM Hawk site north of Beslan airbase.

- Destroying the SAM Hawk site is not your objective. Keep a low profile - monitor your altitude constantly.

- Once we gain control on the ground, feel free to land at Beslan airbase or RTB to the FARP.

- Make sure you select suitable weapons for this mission. It's supposed to be a swift operation so no room for RTB and rearming!

- A-10A's can carry AA missiles, so maintain good comms with our anti-air vehicles (4 x Strelas and 1 x Tor).

- All weapons are allowed for the Ka-50.

- Waypoint-1: Friendly ground units (location at mission's start)

- Waypoint-2: Beslan Airbase.

Good luck, comrades!

Blue Objective:

The enemy has taken us by surprise!

Intel reports a strong ground force of T-72B's and BMP-2's south of the city of Vladikavkaz (south of Beslan) approaching fast. Furthermore, enemy anit-air units have been spotted escorting the convoy. We've been urging the general over the last months and very intrusively the last days to strengthen our line of defense at Beslan. Unfortunately, our efforts were futile.

It comes down to this...

Stop the enemy's invasion with what we have at Beslan at all costs, before this whole thing escalates and turns into a tedious war.

Our ground forces are outnumbered by 2:1. We could consider ourselves lucky to have 2 x A-10A's and 2 x SA342M's at Beslan. The latter is a reinforcement from our allies who wanted their pilots to gain some experience. Both flights were supposed to withdraw soon and be replaced by 4 x AH-64's. Unfortunately for the Apache helicopters, they're still not operational. Therefore, the general decided to cancel the withdrawal of the two.

A-10A's:

- Your top priority targets are the enemy's air defences. 4 x Strelas and 1 x Tor.

- Once that's accomplished, destroying enemy tanks and ACP's should then be easier.

SA342M's:

- It is recommended that you stay close to friendly ground forces.

- Doing so will increase your safety against enemy Strelas and perhaps the Tor too.

- Your top priority targets are enemy T-72B's.

- If you spot a BMP-2, well... don't hesitate either!

Arsenal:

32 x HOT3 missiles

100 x all types of rockets

100 x all types of bombs (except for CBU's)

24 x AGM-65H missiles (no other AGM versions)

16 x AIM-9P missiles

8 x AIM-9L missiles

Notes:

- Don't fly over the mountains! Enemy AA units are everywhere!

- Be cautious with your weapons. We only have a limited number of them.

Stand your ground and good luck!

Signups and Notes:

1- To enable good teamwork, only players who sign up for the Ka-50 or the A-10A or the SA342M can and must sign up a wingman.

2- Players who sign up for the SA342M's can also sign up a copilot. They can sign up themselves, a copilot, a wingman and his copilot.

3- For Blue there are 8 x cmdr slots available: Alpenwolf - Blue cmdr (no rain)

4- For Red there are 16 x cmdr slots available: Alpenwolf - Red cmdr (with rain)

5- Pilots have 1 life only.

6- No time for repairing. If your aircraft is damaged then you'll have to either fight on, RTB or eject if possible.

7- It's either a sunny day (dust generated by ground units can be seen) or rainy (no dust). Include that in your signup, please.

Nellus and winchesterdelta haven't said a word - rain/no rain

I asked them to via pm. I could change that quickly on the event's day, no problem.
