Targeting pod not updating JDAM co-ordinates after designating in TOO mode?

After the latest patch, when I have JDAMS in TOO mode, the Co-ordinates from the Targeting Pod are not updating after I designate them.

Steps I am taking:

Master Arm on,

Select AG Mode,

Select JDAM, wait for it to align,

Select JDAM fuzing, and TOO mode for each JDAM,

Select JDAM DSPLY,

Select MSN page,

Slew TPod around, watch the Co-ords update,

Designate target, Co-ords don't get saved,

Slew tpod some more, and watch Co-ords continue to update.

You used to see the co-ords for that JDAM 'locked in' even when you stepped to the next JDAM and then stepped back to it.

Now the bombs just go whereever, is there a step I'm missing? The same behavior also happens when you select QTY from the JDAM DSPLY and select all of the stations

I think the TGP is always in a state of transferring coordinates to the MSN page, until you "Undesignate" (NWS button) after the last bomb...-do not press STEP again until after Undesignating after the last bomb coords, as it will overwrite onto the first as the start of a new cycle.

The only thing I am having trouble with is pickling multiple bombs from the same pylon (after I have inputted all separate coords) in either TOO1 or TOO2 for each pylon, as they come of the same pylon with the same coordinates even after pressing STEP to change pylon. IDK??

Cheers!

Thanks! It used to be:

Slew, Designate,

Step,

Slew, Designate,

Step,

Slew, Repeat,

Undesignate after final designation,

Pickle!

So now it's changed to :

Slew, Designate,

Undesignate

Step,

Slew, Designate,

Undesignate

Step,

Slew, Repeat,

Undesignate after final designation,

Pickle, ??

No need to undesignate between steps. Just do this:

Slew, designate (now your TPOD is controlling the Target Designation)

JDAM should now display coordinates in TOO mode

Step to next JDAM station (or change to TOO2)

Slew to next target

Step

Slew

Step

Slew

As soon as you step to the next station or switch to a different TOO mission profile, the current coordinates of the TPOD (and/or target designation) will load into that TOO profile. So don't ever step back to a station you've already designated or it will overwrite it. Undesignate if you're unsure, then step, then slew and designate again.

There is no need to undesignate between steps, but just remember to undesignate at the end though.

As kengou says, it's:

slew, designate

step, slew

step, slew

step slew

undesignate.

With the BRU55 rack assuming you are starting on TOO1 for all stations, it would be

Slew

TOO2

Slew

Step

Slew

TOO2

Slew

Step

Etc

So technically, each BRU55 rack now has 2 coordinates supplied ie TOO1 and TOO2. My problem appears when pickling each bomb. Often the second bomb comes off the same rack, even if I have pressed STEP to the other station (I was trying to release TOO1 from each station first to avoid asymmetric load). In addition, the eventual 4 bombs don't drop on 4 separate coordinates. So what is the process for pickling 4 bombs from 2 stations?

Many thanks

I took a note when I figured out how to ripple 8 jdams, hope this helps:

step through each of 4 stations, set JDAM to TOO mode

back on station 8, TDC depress once to continuously send active cursor position to JDAM

slew over a target - 1

press TOO2

slew over a target - 2

press STEP

slew over a target - 3

press TOO2

slew over a target - 4

press STEP

slew over a target - 5

press TOO2

slew over a target - 6

press STEP

slew over a target - 7

press TOO2

slew over a target - 8

press undesignate button

press QTY

select all four stations

press RTN

get IN ZONE

pickle hold until 4 bombs drop

cycle through all stations and switch them to TOO1

pickle hold until 4 bombs drop

That is 100% correct. This should be used as the reference for pickling 8 JDAMs!

Hhmmm... definitely followed the above process for 8 different targets, but the bombs impacted in pairs, indicating only one set of coordinates per station were transferring to the bombs upon pickle.

Honestly, you're just missing a step somewhere. That process followed exactly is correct. The whole thing is very fiddly, and just one little mistake throws everything out.

Post a track if you can't get it to work, and we'll all have a look.

So these procedures imply that the last set of continuously updated TGP coordinates are locked into the JDAM for targeting when a new weapon is selected by either STEP or TOO2. Correct??

Hi,

I have made small video showing releasing 8 JDAMs in one pass.

Thanks. Exactly the steps outlined further up by Zyll.

Clarification: There's no designation via TDC Depress after slewing over targets? You simply slew over the target, then press TOO2 or STEP without designating by TDC Depress?

When I do not press TDC Depress for each individual target, the coordinates in the MSN page do not get updated.

Here is a track I posted to another similar thread

You only need to TDC depress once at the start.

It depends on which tracking mode you're in. From the boresight position where a diamond is not displayed when slewing ceases, you won't get designation. After pressing TDC once you will see a diamond when slewing ceases and target location supply is continuous.

In area or point track the target position is supplied continuously but is only updated to the tiny cursor position every TDC depress. Also why are you using point or area track they are completely worthless. The important thing is the L/L displayed on the JDAM MSN page. That defines the weapon target on launch. Make sure you undesignate before launching multiple or your prepared coordinates will get overwritten as they get reselected and all your bombs will go toward the continuously supplied target info.
