The "vehicles on fire" effect was nicely improved by ED with the 2.7 but for sure the smoke column are too small and still unrealistic.
Waiting for the update of your mod Taz...It's a "must have" 👍

It doesnt cause a crash on loading but it doesnt show anything like the volume or density of the smoke mod pre-2.7. In fact I'd question if MP one is working at all - it doesnt really seem any different to me.

Great mod for those of us locked out of 2.7.
 
ED has shown great planning by raising the required spec and ending support for Windows 7.
During a global hardware shortage... Well done ED, well done. (slow hand clap)
Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 in Jan 2020, not sure I get your point?

I did look into it and it's kinda good and bad.  This same smoke system seems to be used for building smokes and etc.  Just varied in size via config file.  So it is ideal to adjust the config file for specific smoke but any edit to config file breaks IC.  But if I edit the parent fx file, it passes the IC but then it affects all variation.  If I increase the smoke by 10X for vehicles, then building smoke may get 10X too.  Plus the flame seems to be part of the same sprite as smoke so it's more difficult to adjust independently.

 

Below is adjusting the parent fx file.  Need to test what else this affects.

How did you edit the size of just the vehicle fire? I don’t care about IC.

Above was done editing parent fx file.  For the lua file, you can start with:

Also the vehicle type determines flame and smoke size.  The 4 vehicles above uses same smoke.  But two fuel trucks on the left make larger flame and smoke.

Updated to V10

 

First post updated.

 

Still in-progress.  Need more time to test which effects are outdated.

This new smoke does have z-fighting issue when in close proximity.  May be why they kept it small.  But for the limited time I spent testing, wasn't too bad.

Not sure if the size is too big but those big smoke columns looked pretty cool in VR.

 

From the left, small vehicle, tank, building, and placeable big static smoke from ME.

Huge fan of this mod, but in my humble opinion

 

1: Fire from burning vehicles is to fast

2: The 'large smoke' effect is too large, and when used with a fire does not look that great due to texture limitations.

 

Other than that- thanks for keeping the mod up to date!

Thanks and as I've already said, flame is very difficult to adjust independently now.

These are effects tested to be working.

  • Cluster bomb
  • Water splash
  • Tank dust
  • Vehicle dust
  • Helo dust
  • Smoke marker
  • Gun smoke
  • Landing smoke
  • Catapult steam

These are effects not working and removed.

  • Rain
  • Crater texture (Replaced by new default texture)
