Waiting to see what performance gains can be made against my RTX2080Ti before I decide.

I bought exactly the same 2080ti as Notso has shortly after it launched, and it was $1350.00. So, Imacken is pretty close to being right on. Not sure why we're splitting hairs though.

Big difference between launch MSRP and board partner custom pricing.

Expect $200+ for custom cards to start.

This is not splitting hairs, $1400 is the EXPECTED MSRP for what we think might be the FE. So then $1600 for custom cards. $1800 for AIO, $2000 for high end custom/watercooled.

Pushes the card well into the ridiculous territory. I'll wait and see what big navi brings to the table.

Likewise. I need to see significant VR gains before I sacrifice my FSSB funds.... ;)

I’m not that tech savvy when it comes to pc hardware, so take this with a pinch of salt. But I’ve heard that the 30xx series will require 3 slots, and extra psu requirements, both in terms of power draw and necessary plugs. So I’m not sure whether I’m going to need a new case to physically harbour the new card, plus a new motherboard with an abundance of slots, and a beefier psu. Add that lot to $1400+ and things start to add up a bit.

The 2080Ti also effectively uses 3 slots. The power plug is different n the 30xx, but nVidia will supply an adaptor to suit.

So, the only difference there is the power draw which will be higher.

Oh, that’s a relief then. Mind you, I still need a new pc, as it would be sacrilege putting a 30xx in my system.

I believe perceived wisdom on no actual hard data is a 850w for Psu.

It's only sacrilige if your cpu will end up bottlenecking the gpu..

I think my cpu will be a bottleneck. I’ve an i7 6700k, running at 4ghz with 32gb DDR 2400mhz. I believe I do have an 850watt psu, but it is a pretty cheap one. A full system upgrade is long overdue.

I’ve been ready to pounce for ages, but the manufacturers seem to be dragging their heels forever. AMD, with the Big Navi, and new Ryzen, and nVidia with their 30xx series. I, and many others, have been reluctant to bite now with all of this stuff ready to drop at any moment.

Well I have plenty of room in my case, no problem there.

My current power supply is a 1000w EVGA, hopefully that will be enough will have to wait and see I guess.

Am I the only person who thinks that it’s about time we had a true, technological breakthrough regarding power consumption in computers? 1000watts is insane. That’s one bar on an electric fire or 100 energy saving light bulbs running simultaneously. I wonder what the true cost of a 3-4 hour gaming session is? Have you ever switched on a kettle and watched the meter spin up? I used to get a bollocking off my dad for putting the electric fire on back in the day.

Put solar panels on the roof in the UK and it’d take 10 years to recoup the price of the panels :megalol:

I have them here in AZ. Yet the very high heat does reduce their efficiency.

I'm anxious to see what the power requirements will be, (as you all do), since I currently have a 750W PSU.

That’s the same price as the 2080Ti, which I see you bought!

Yep, count me in on the 3090 as soon as I can preorder.

True, but I just bought it a < a year ago and doing it again would hurt.
