Problem setting up displays using cubesim mfds

Recommended Posts

Did you see any performance (FPS) increase?

I didn't make any test, I do it just for 'my-personal-perfectionist' sake

Take a look my mods :joystick:

I dunno if you saw this, but Cubesim is developing real-life sized F/A-18 DDI and AMPCD (5x5 inches, 720x720 IPS panel) as well corresponding frames with dials and buttons (non-Thrustmaster).

I am very interested in how this progresses. I already have pair of Cougar MFDs, but I would rather 1:1 scale replicas of the Hornet. Having them as a package is a lot nicer for than having to start with a 3d printed frame, install and wire buttons then try to match a monitor.

I also like Stang's plans/kits for using full scale panel, but simplified to be flat with 27" monitor to drive the entire panel.

I am in no hurry. So, I can't wait to see what pops up before I have the time/money/space to commit to a Hornet pit.

Hi, I am still having the issue where I have to set up the displays in windows every time I start the PC, as it reverts to the monitors native resolution which is 3840 x 2160, rather than the 2160 x 1440 res I am currently running, which seems to give a good balance of image quality and performance with my screen set up.

Is there a way to force windows to accept my preferred setting and stop it changing it?

Thanks

Hi, been trying all Month to my cube sim MFD’s working.....

The problem seems to a windows display set up related issue. Extend the desktop to both.

I have been trying everything.

CUBESIM MFD SCREEN INSTRUCTION

1.position all monitor like the pic[Windows monitor set,not real position]

2.copy the cubesim.lua to

Eagle Dynamic/DCS World/Config/MonitorSetup

or Eagle Dynamic/DCS World OpenBeta/Config/MonitorSetup

3.open DCS change resolution to [3520 X 1080]

4.cancel fullscreen option

5.select cubesim screen set in DCS

6.enjoy!

However I get Main screen showing 1/4 to right of monitor and on cannot control anything. They have sent me a second LUA file but setup is the same.

Hopefully someone can help.

I have a 32" VIOTEK monitor res is 1920 X 1080 Ordered two of the 120 MFD's. Also included LUA file

Will attach files. Been trying for a month to get it to work. HELP!!!!!

Can you post how your monitors are arranged within windows?

You must have your monitor setup like the following in Windows....right click desktop - display settings

Under multiple displays the 'Extend option is enabled, not duplicated

Monitor identification should read from right to left 1, 2 and 3

3screen.thumb.jpg.2dde6445ae425ca6c9029f2bfdd35b3c.jpg

Your res in DCS should be 3520x1080 with full screen unchecked

And ensure you select the cubesim profile

Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO

64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS

Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP

Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, Trackir

Once you have that working correctly, if required due to performance reasons ( obviously you now need to run DCS at a substantially higher resolution and you have not mentioned your hardware or settings) you can re arrange the smaller screens vertically within windows, but that’s another story and will mean altering the .lua file accordingly........

Try this. I'm at work so can't test any of this but it should give you a general idea of how to proceed.

1. In Windows display settings, change main panel res to 2560x1440

2. In Cubesim lua, change Center width, height to 2560, 1440

3. In DCS settings, change display resolution to 2560+800+800+800, 1440

Gents,

I just would like to say thank you for the tips. It helped a lot for my set up. Interesting is that I run on 3840x2160, corrected for 2 mfd screens (+1600) and it runs fine, around 35fps+. in very few instances I saw a drop to 25~29fps. I tried the 2560x1440 (plus correction) and saw no real gain in fps, so I returned to 4k.

Anyway, thank you for the post and messages.

All the best,

Sydy

I have two of these monitors on order from Cubesim.

I found it interesting that someone had an issue that depending on how his screens were configured in Windows that it would impact his FPS.

Is this still the case or has this been resolved?

Hi Fellow Pilots,

I have my new CubeSim screens that I want to use obviously with DCS. I can't DDI get the screens to show on the respective devices.

Here is the setup that I have in use;

My Monitors are configured as follows;

Attached Image

1 – 1920 x 1080

2 – 2560 x 1080 (Main Monitor and also only screen that DCS runs on)

3 – 1920 x 1080

4 – CubeSim Screen

5 – CubeSim Screen

Please can you assist me with how I configure DCS to run on screen number 2 and CubeSim screens, 4 & 5

I sincerely hope someone out there can help me, It has taken me 8 months to get to this final part

Thank you

@Ice Rhino

Try this monitor config file, copy it to
Saved Games\DCS\Config\Monitorsetup\

Main plus 2 cubesim.lua

Then in DCS System settings menu

Set your resolution to 2560x1680, if that is not a selectable resolution, you can type it in the box.
Set your aspect ratio to 1.5238095238, can also be typed
Choose the config file, name is Main Cubesimx2

Click "OK" DCS should restart

I am not purposely delaying to build the suspense, I have been pulled away on business and will not be home until Friday. I will aim to test this on early morning on Saturday morning and report back

Hi,

I have now a new problem. After installing a new Cockpit Livery, DCS is not using the MFD Monitors (3 and 4) anymore.

grafik.png

This is my Monitor setup, and DCS is now using the top left corner of Monitor 2 as x=0;y=0. So the DCS screen is now pushed by 1600 pixel right on Monitor 1, which I do not use for DCS. On Monitor 3 and 4 is the normal windows background and windows identified the monitors correctly and I can use them .

}IMG_6503.JPG

My monitorconfig lua:

{
     Center =
     {
          x = 1600;
          y = 0;
          width = 3440;
          height = 1440;
          viewDx = 0;
          viewDy = 0;
          aspect = 3440 / 1440;
     }
}

LEFT_MFCD =
{
     x = 80;
     y = 0;
     width = 600;
     height = 600;
}

RIGHT_MFCD =
{
     x = 880;
     y = 0;
     width = 600;
     height = 600;

Just for kicks, I uninstalled the Livery, but with no effect.

Help and ideas would be really appreciated,

Cheers

HI, did ED change something in the export name of the FA18? everything works, only the FA18 does not send to the monitors anymore. A10A/C/C2, F16, M2K, Harrier, Ka50, SA342,... all work, only the Hornet does not show on the external monitor.

Im actually experimenting but it seems ED changed the names, I did not find a hint, so does anyone know?

Found a solution, simply renamed the ports, now it works again:

F18_LEFT =
{
     x = 3920;
     y = 0;
     width = 600;
     height = 600;
}

F18_RIGHT =
{
     x = 4720;
     y = 0;
     width = 600;
     height = 600;
}

Additional in the MDI_left_viewport_cfg.lua:

--ViewportHandling
dofile(LockOn_Options.common_script_path.."ViewportHandling.lua")
update_screenspace_diplacement(1, true, 0)
try_find_assigned_viewport("F18_LEFT")

and in right also.
