DCS: Syria Map - Helipad Locations

Bailey

Recommended Posts

Hello. Based on the request to have a list of helipads from multiple people in the community, I would like to present a place where the community can combine that information until there is a better solution.

DCS: Syria Helipad Locations Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1J-wohTXJOCPV9iP4FRSlRZyUi-GXFXtWGv0b_rC86YQ/edit?usp=sharing

@sirrah has made a mission file (.miz) that contains the locations of the helipads - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312093/
@shu77 (CombatWombat) made helipad kneeboard diagrams - https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315926/

Check 'em all out!

There are currently around 100 discovered helipads as of mid April 2021. This picture is old. 😛 Go to the google doc link above to see the most recent list.

helipad locations 2021 18 apr.jpg

This is a living document. This list relies on community support and identification. If you find a marked helipad in DCS, please contribute! If you find a marked helipad in Google Maps, please let the map developers know so we can hopefully get it in DCS. If you find any errors or additions, please let us know in this thread.

Still trying to decide how best to represent this in a diagram. Couple rough workings below for comment. I like the Idea of a Helo Supplement for this map.

In courtyard of presidental palace in Damascus is helipad too. Marked with triangle.

Ah! I have seen that one, but I didn't know if it was a landing area, or a work of art. Apparently both! Looking at a photograph of the design dated 1975-9, there was a clearly Update:

-Added Damascus Presidential palace

-Extended GPS to 7 digits

Its interesting, this is the first map really designed for Helicopters, also the first one with proper military bases modelled, I kinda enjoy the easter egg hunt myself

Not a helo pad, but a 5000ft Strip at the Syrian Arab Horse association in Al Mezzeh, currently appears as road

I'm not going to add this one to the list, but it is a nice find! Unfortunately for the fixed wing guys, that strip has about 3 mini hills on it that look like they can cause some sporty landings.

New one I believe, SAA 156th

SAA 1st

Nice! Two new ones.

Added as:

"Damascus SAA 156th Brigade"

"Damascus SAA 1st Armoured Division"

  • 2 months later...

Thanks for the work guys. Great job!

@sirrah what is the meaning of the abbreviations and numbers in your map?

I understand VOR and NDB, think the next three letters are the morse code but what is the meaning of the rest of the numebers?

For example in Haifa

VOR 115,3 MHZ ROP 255/31

NDB 386 kHz RMD 317/26
