DCS: Syria Map - Helipad Locations

I found several Helipads (Civil, UN & possible military) in Cyprus.

The version of the map in 2.7.2 has 153 helipads. Attached screenshot showing their locations in addition to a lua file with precise coordinates. Use this information as you wish.

That looks great @Grimes. A lot more convenient than my "Helipad locations.miz"

 

But, (), how do I use this lua file so that I see the marked locations in the mission editor?

With the editor you don't. That was a static list that in a mission I used to iterate through and create mark panels. The static list itself was generated via using world.searchObjects and just scanning the entire map for specific object types which takes a good 15 minutes. I modified the script to output a format that I copied into a miz that uses ingress points to mark it. Maybe that will be more useful for those not keen on using the scripting engine.

Would it by any chance also be possible to somehow have these orange markers to show up when ingame on the F10 map?

One could consider it a disadvantage that the IP points in my .miz file don't show up on the F10 map while flying around, they are only visible in the mission editor.

 

 

EDIT:

I updated to the .miz file to "version 1.4.9" (also linked on the first page of this thread)

Will update to 1.5 once Bailey has managed to find time and update the VOR/NDB info list

 

Main difference between Grimes' .miz file and mine, is that mine also includes helicopter platforms integrated into scenery (like on top of buildings). But thanks Grimes for finding all these small platforms!

 

 

I'm not by any means religious, but "my god!!!" This map is screaming for a proper helicopter campaign. The only "downside" of flying a helicopter in this map, is that you only see such a small part of all the beauty it has to offer

Make the lua file posted earlier execute as a do script file trigger. After it executes put this in a do script block that runs and it'll iterate the entries and place the marks.

Adding buildings that have helipads built into them isn't difficult, just gotta know the typenames.

Theres no active helipads in the marianas at present.  the only one designated in NOTAMs is the commonwealth Health Center Center on Saipan thats not modelled. I believe theres a couple other private ones based on some of the diagram work I have done, but they dont seem to be there, I think if we find any in future releases they should be posted over in that forum in their own topic rather than in Syria

From FAA Documents I found following Heliports in Marianna area. But I haven't checked which one where there.

This is the wrong thread, please start one in the marianas section, bearing in mind there are no helipads on the map presently, so the above is wishlist, rather than an easter egg hunt, which was the original purpose of this topic.

 Hi @Grimes,

Do you happen to have a chance to re-run the script to generate this file again? Now with Syria east expansion and the AH-64 it would help a lot to have all the new heliports at hand to explore the area

Thanks for checking! I'm assuming that from an objects point of view these are just normal parking spots and it's only the texture?

That is an actual airbase. Only searched for certain map objects that are the standalone helipads.

I found an other helipad. From the VOR At-Tanf 114.00 MHz TAN, heading 320 for 72.023 km.

A lot of Syria heli platforms haven't had correct collision models since release (this probably being one of them).

Unfortunately, Syria map hasn't been touched/fixed by Ugra for a very VERY long time. Considering the complete lack of any form of response to user feedback and bug reports by Ugra and/or ED (ahum... kneeboard...), I suppose by now the Syria map can be considered abandoned. 

Luckily most of the map is very nice. Just a pity, as it could have been brilliant.

I plan to add all usable helipads to my Syria map. Can someone please tell me if the OP list is up-to-date?

There might be new helipads in town, seeing as Syria's just received an important update.
