Issues in Backseat and Strange Popup Message in F-14B MP

My buddy and I were flying in the F-14 and a weird pop up window appeared that said simply "Someone Have Control." Both he and I saw it on our individual PCs.

 

 

Anyone know what this is? We were having what appeared to be huge lag issues. For instance, he had raised the gear but if I went to external view it would show it was down and if I looked over his shoulder his cockpit instrumentation showed they were down too. Also my clickable switches in my RIO seat worked, but not any of my HOTAS controls (like the HCU).

 

 

Anyone experience any of this?

I only see this msg (as RIO) shortly after we died (crush into ground) after eating a missile.
