Default DCS 2.5 size 74Gb?

Last night I installed the default map only and got a 74gb folder. Is this normal? I was thinking about 20, 30 gbs but 74!? I searched for temporary installation files but found none on the downloads folder. Is this size correct. My gaming laptop doesn't have much space and I was planning just the default Caucasus map and 1 or 2 modules to do some trainning.

Seems normal to me, the minimum game specs are:

Minimum system requirements (LOW graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel Core i3 at 2.8 GHz or AMD FX; RAM: 8 GB (16 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB; Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 / AMD R9 280X or better; requires internet activation.

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600X - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia GTX1070ti - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar - Oculus Rift CV1

Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

It's a Lenovo Legion, purchased 2 months ago and yes it is possible to upgrade with a new ssd but i'm not want to loose warranty.

You could always install to an external drive - loading times may be a bit longer but....

Windows 11 Home ¦ Z790 AORUS Elite AX motherboard ¦ i7-13700K ¦ 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory @ 5600MHz ¦ Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD for OS, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD for DCS ¦ MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24GB ¦ Virpil WarBRD base with VFX grip, Thrustmaster A10c and F/A-18 grips ¦ VKB Gunfighter Mk4 and MCG Pro ¦ Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle ¦ VKB STECS Throttle ¦ Virpil TCS rotor base with Shark and AH-64D  grips ¦ MFG Crosswinds ¦ Total Controls Multi-Function Button Box ¦ Pimax Crystal

Are you running a DisplayPort monitor off the USB-C? If not, what transfer rate does this support. I run a desktop with DCS on an internal SATA SSD (so 6GB transfer rate max) quite happily.

I use my laptop most of the time because i'm away of my gaming desktop during the week. Honestly I don't know the answer, not much a tech guy, sorry... Anyway an external ssd is not an option right now because of the costs...

I still find bit strange so many space just for a default map and no modules but I guess I'll have to accept the fact that for now no DCS for me.

Many thanks hornblower and Rudel for your kind assistance.

Here is a Map of the space DCS uses on my drive:

Of course I have all the Maps (didnt had Syria at the time of this pic), but you can note that a big chunk is on the right side: CoreMods and Bazar ... those two use up about 50 GB and are needed to play Multiplayer, so that you can see enemies even if they fly on aircrafts that you dont own. The Caucasus Map uses up about 25 GB and the individual flyable aircrafts are actually quite small, just a few GB each.

recently I bought Asus A15 Ryzen 5 4600H, GTX1650 (4gb) ,8gb ram, I have around 140gb(of 256gb) left, I am not planning for any modules, may be FC3,or FA18,

Can I join MP servers like HOGGIT GAW on Su25T with current config?

How well can I run Skyhawk with this laptop(im MP)?

Multiplayer requires 16 GB of ram, tough you may want to just try it yourself, as the base game is free.
