The Spring Tension campaign is the orginal campaign included with the module and is rather old. It is well possible that there is a bug in the first mission. Could you elaborate on what exactly is not working properly? I can recommend a Third Party campaign like Oilfield if you are not into combat or the latest The Crew campaign if you want a taste of a proper campaign. In my opinion, particulary the older campaigns, feel more like missions packs rather then campaigns, if you look at what is available today.

The mission is land on farp near Tschinvali and unload some documents, and this is done and after that I must fly and land near Wp 4 and unload or load some stuff, after that I get conformation that is done that I fly to my base, but results of mission is 50 percent and that is not changing after I land and after I quit mission?

Campaigns are quite problematic in dcs. So I gave up buying campaigns. Please note that dcs generally don't provide campaigns with modules recently. So I suggest that evaluate plane and campaign separately before label it as disappointing.

I can understand the grief you are having with the campaign. It takes some effort to learn a module, so it is nothing for people of the "quick win" mentality. However as some others already said: you should not judge the MODULE by a CAMPAIGN/MISSION. The Mi8 is actually quite a lovely module, lots of detail, good flight model, you can feel the passion that went into creating it, it has character. There is an entire cosmos of activities you can have with this module besides flying a single player campaign. I for example love the PvE multiplayer server like Hoggit, you can join a squadron, there are some for combat actions, some simulate logistics, some specifically for helicopters, try some free, user created missions from the download section... . The time you put into learning this module was not in vain, you will be able to use and refine your skills. :pilotfly:

Yes you are right about module but yesterday I was complaining about faulty campaign today I bought another campaign called Border and guess what, this is also faulty and again first mission,I think that DCS should label his products with working and not working sign for us customers because we spend money for nothing, unbelivable???

Uhm, both missions you've mentioned here work perfectly alright.

If I understand your post above for "Documents" right - you're doing TWO stops? That is wrong, that mission is THREE stops on the way, so including the return to the home base you're supposed to do FOUR landings altogether.

That mission seems to be quite forgiving. For skipping one stop I would give a "0", not a "50".

It's in the mission briefing

Takeoff from JAVA, fly to and land at

• TSKHINVALI (WP 1)

• AKHMADZ CKP (WP3)

• BALAANI CKP (WP4)

RTB and land at JAVA

Hmm yes, I vaguely remember having that problem, too.

It's been a while, but I'm quite sure it was either caused by missing a waypoint or by not doing the right thing on one of the stops.

Look, missions in DCS can be quite stubborn. They are based on triggers, so if a trigger wasn't triggered (no pun intendend), things will break. If you, as an example, are supposed to fly over a certain point but you don't, the mission does not "notice" your progress and the next trigger won't work. I had an annoying one in I think the Oilfield Campaign. I understood that I shall land, pick sth up or unload sth. and got a message that it was complete. But one needs to wait for an audio sample to play and if leaving too early, that trigger does not complete. Sometimes it is a bit of trial and error, but it sounds worse than it is.

Generally: Read the briefing thoroughly and make sure you've understood all details. Prior starting, check all kneeboard tables and charts. Again make sure that you know what you're supposed to do. The messages you get during the missions (either spoken or on screen or mostly both) are crucial. Read them and do exactly what is said there.

After all it's exactly like it is in real life :-)

Ask for a refund or exchange to the newest "Crew Part 1 Campaign". Don't buy 5 year old campaigns coz they're buggy. Get free missions, campaigns etc here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/

  • 2 years later...

The Border campaign does warn you in DCS that you should read the documentation for the HIP regarding radio communications as the knowledge needed to know how to work the different radios will be extremely important in completing each mission. You need to be able to use the radios to talk with Airfields, FARPs, Escort pilots, Ground Crew, Special Forces crews. You will also want to know how to work the ADF as well as the ARC-UD navigation systems.

In the briefing, you will also want to use the arrow button to click through the different screen shots detailing your routes as the debriefing is rather vague. The debriefing might state objective as taking off at point A and landing at point B but doesn't mention you need to land at 1 or 2 other places along the way so pay more attention to the screen shots. Your kneeboard will also outline your flight plan and include waypoints as well.

The most important thing is proper tuning of the radios which included the R-863 and R-828 radios. The majority of the comms are easily done through the radio located by the co-pilots left butt cheek on the center pedestal.

I started the border campaign yesterday and so far completed the first 3 missions without any problems. As long as you can finish with a result of 100, you have completed the mission. I hope this helps.
