New drive for DCS

REL

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm looking for the best way to move dcs to a new drive and in my research I found that most people usually perform those steps:

  1. 1. Copy DCS folder to the new drive.
  2. 2. Update all DCS Shortcuts path.
  3. 3. Update the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta path key.

I just wonder what am I missing / mistaking?

Is there a way to use the official installer with conjunction of the existing files in the old drive?

hello. though i have not done it myself, i believe the change in registry is unnecessary. when you move the install folder and run repair, it will fix it all for you. BUT see this post. there it does indeed state a registry change is needed. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/input-and-output/183393-move-dcs-to-a-new-ssd-device?t=183203

I did this a few months ago when my main PC drive got too full, and I was unable to install all my purchased modules.

I bought a Crucial MX-250 SSD, and just used Windows to transfer the file folders from one drive to the next. After that I just updated my desktop shortcuts with the new drive letter. I did not have to change any registry settings and DCS has been running happily since.

Good luck!
