Dear Fighter Pilots, partners and friends,  :pilotfly:

We hope that you will enjoy our new forum engine and that it will significantly improve communication

quality and access to resources. Thank you in advance for bearing with us whilst we fix any persisting

concerns and bugs.

We are actively working on the GBU-24 laser guided bomb as well as the AGM-84K SLAM-ER land

attack missile. In addition to these new weapons, we are also finalising advanced  modes for the

AGM-88C HARM and AGM-84D Harpoon for DCS: F/A-18C Hornet.

We would also like to take this opportunity to share our progress on new 3D modern era assets that

will be added to DCS World core.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics Team

Forum posts and search indexing have at last been rebuilt, however it is possible that some content still does not

display as intended and we apologise for this inconvenience. Please note,  links will not

F/A-18C Hornet

Development Progress

hero2.png

GBU-24 Paveway III

The GBU-24 is a 2,000 lbs-class laser-guided bomb with general purpose and penetrator warheads. It has

advanced guidance over the Paveway II bombs and provides extended N range, maneuverability, and attack

flexibility. It is designed to defeat high-value, protected targets. The Paveway III is planned for release in December 2020.

hero3.png.e73fb427a1cbfdaef67ac5efdac54f4d.png

AGM-84K

The SLAM-ER is the next land-attack cruise missile coming to the Hornet. Unlike the current AGM-84E SLAM, the

SLAM-ER has greater range, a more advanced terminal seeker, a multi-steerpoint navigation system, stealthier

radar cross section, as well as greater accuracy when human-in-the-loop guidance is not used.

Unlike the GBU-24, the SLAM-ER has much greater range and the ability to alter terminal targeting. We are also

developing the enhanced data link video transmission for these greater distances which we plan to deliver early

next year.

AGM-88C HARM

In addition to the current Self Protect (SP) and Target of Opportunity (TOO) HARM modes, we will be adding the

Pre-Briefed (PB) mode later this month. This attack mode targets a geographic location and attempts to engage

hostiles within range. Because the range is known, the HARM can be lofted and thus giving it greater

range than SP and TOO modes.

AGM-84D Harpoon

We will soon be adding the SEA mode to the Hornet’s radar. This will be an effective tool to acquire and

engage moving naval targets. The Harpoon can take advantage of known target azimuth and range

to use the Range/Bearing Launch (R/BOL) mode for more accurate attacks.

Tin Shield

Progress

hero4.png.f11d62c7d8a0d60edd9ca482d3cb169e.png

We are currently finalising the ST68U mobile three-coordinates radar station (Tin Shield NATO classification).

This unit was designed to detect and track low-altitude targets in active and passive interference in the presence

of intense reflections from the ground and in adverse weather conditions. It is in service with many CIS countries and

the former Warsaw Pact countries.

BTR-82

Progress

hero5.png.9bc62f296c235de62ebb488e56bb99c0.png

This is a seriously updated BTR-80 model. The armoured personnel carrier is equipped with the 30-mm 2A72

cannon and has been realised with the troop compartment. BTR-82A is actively used in Syria during patrols by the

military police.

Thank you again for all your passion and support,

Kind regards,

P-47D Thunderbolt

Release

hero1.png https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/thunderbolt/

Over the course of the Early Access period, we have been able to fine tune the unique hydraulics, oil, electrical systems, and flight model of the Jug.. We believe that this is our best World War II fighter to date and that it sets a new standard for all our future World War II aircraft.

DCS: P-47D Thunderbolt was used extensively to test and tune our new Damage Model update. It provided a stable platform for general bug-fixing and creating engine damage effects caused by overheating and poor engine management.

We have simulated almost all aspects of this aircraft to create the most accurate representation possible for PC. Don’t miss the last chance to benefit from the 20% Early Access discount and enjoy one of the most loved and iconic allied fighters of the second world war.

Warbird Warriors

Development Report

hero2.png

Fighter engines, and in particular radial engines, are susceptible to master bearing overloads that require fine management skills and attention during operation. To prolong the service life, compliance with manifold pressure levels and RPM recommendations and limitations are mandatory. If not respected, you run the risk of serious engine malfunction, and you will probably be looking for a suitable emergency landing site in short order. If the engine is damaged due to poor management, or excess combat abuse, lowering the manifold pressure (or boost) and engine RPM will help keep the oil temperature within limits. With sufficient oil pressure, it should allow you to execute a controlled emergency landing.

The DCS: Fw 190A-8 Anton and DCS: P-47D Thunderbolt now include these new algorithms for calculating and simulating the above, as well as the subsequent damages / failures to the engine. These aircraft represent our latest advancement in modeling, heating, cooling, aging, and damage to power plants and systems. This work will be extended to our older DCS World aircraft, and this will set the standard for all new warbirds coming to DCS World.

Open Beta 2.5.6

Multicrew

hero3.png

At last, and after a long gestation period, we have added multi-crew capabilities to UH-1H, with playable roles for all four crew members, to the next Open Beta. You can now have dedicated roles to fly and fight with two pilots and two gunners and interchange roles in flight. If the UH-1H does not have M-60 and M-134 minigun installed, you can fly as passengers. This offers a new level of gameplay that we plan to roll out to other platforms in the near future.

hero4.png

The Hornet now includes the GBU-24A/B Paveway III laser-guided bomb. Auto IFF/CIT from the AZ/EL A/A page and AZ/EL FlIR Sublevel. Watch DCS: F/A-18C Hornet | Automatic IFF. A redesigned threat search algorithm for HARM for TOO mode has also been added. Read and watch the details DCS: F/A-18C Hornet | GBU-24 Paveway III.

hero5.png

We have fixed the logic of the System Point of Interest (SPI) concept. Multiple other bugs have been fixed and new A/A Training Missions have been added to help you hit the ground running. The manual has also been updated. Watch DCS: F-16C Viper | Targeting Pod and Maverick Tips.

This update to Open Beta 2.5.6 is our largest to date and includes the MBT T-72B3, SPAAG ZSU-57-2, and APC BTR-82A AI vehicles mentioned in recent news. For a more comprehensive list of updates and bug fixes, please check out the full list of changes.

Once again, Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Thank you for all for your passion and support,

UH-1H Huey

Multi-Crew

hero2.png

The new functionality was developed with a user-friendly approach in mind and is the next stage of multi-crew operations in DCS World.

Permission system

A new permission system to the available seats in the aircraft is implemented through the interface of pop-up windows (widgets). It allows the pilot (the owner of the aircraft specified in the Mission Editor) to control the access of other players to the available seats in the aircraft.

Flight control transfer

The transfer of aircraft flight controls from the first pilot to the second pilot and back has been implemented. At the same time, the owner pilot can control requests from shooters and allow or reject them. The owner pilot of the aircraft, specified in the mission editor, always retains the ability to forcibly return control of the helicopter to himself.

System control transfer

For a helicopter like Huey, when the same instrument of cockpit control is available to both pilots at the same time, it was necessary to develop specific logical solutions in the "multi-crew" functionality which, with a minimum delay, ensures mutual accessibility of the instruments and cockpit controls for the pilot / co-pilot.

The updated mechanics for multi-crew access to the controls, as well as the ability to exchange seats within one helicopter (via free seat), required additions in the mechanism of interaction between the helicopter model and the DCS core. Due to this, the work took way way longer than was anticipated. We faced some major bugs where warnings were not seen by co-pilots, and some issues where the aircraft status was not synchronising correctly for all crew.

We continue to work on the implementation of the ability to separate the view axis and the machine gun direction for a more comfortable game from the shooter's workplace. Now, if you have Track-IR or VR, the game will assign these devices to view axis while the machine gun axis will remain under mouse control. In addition, the ability to assign a machine gun control to the joystick will be added. This will lead us closer to the completion of this new feature and to it’s roll out to other platforms.

We hope you will have fun with this new addition to DCS: UH-1H Huey.

Free to Play

Two More Weeks

hero3.png

We are excited to be able to offer you this Free to Play event, the complexities of these aircraft can be a challenge to master and we hope this gives you a chance to explore all of what is on offer in DCS World.

On behalf of all of us, we would like to extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. May this festive season bring you peace, happiness, health and all the prosperity for the year ahead. We rise together to face the challenges of today and are hopeful for New Year's brighter days.
