MoToad Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 I have been out of the game for a couple of years. Having tried to reinstall the game three times with a process that takes all day, it has failed only to start over. I do have a steam account and installed with that which too a little less time only to find I had no option to reinstall my previously purchased planes. So first, is this any way possible? And second, if I am forced to install DCS World original, How do I fix the download problem? Oh ya, third would using Bittorrent be faster?
Flappie Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 (edited) Hi MoToad. When installing the "original" DCS World, you can monitor the downloading by checking the size of the "\DCS World\_downloads\" folder. Whenever you restart the updater, it checks this folder to know what has already been downloaded. If you think the DCS updater is stuck, please attach your "\DCS World\autoupdate_log.txt". Now, can you copy aircraft from the Steam DCS into the "original" DCS? Yes you can. Simply copy all folder contained inside "\DCS World\Mods\" from one installation to the other. MoToad Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 (edited) As my Steam install works, my question was can I copy my bought and paid for planes the other way? Ie; from DCS World to Steam DCS World? Edit; OK. just found what I assume is the answer to this question. It's a one way street. I have the Hawg C, the Mustang and Flaming Cliffs 3 on the standalone and I'm not throwing them away. So I have begun the install again with a new updater which I am pretty sure is the same one I downloaded the other day. the speed is about 3.5 mbps as before so I am assuming the same result. I deleted everything I could find pertaining to the other tries. And I just saw your reply come in Flappy. Thx. When it fails, there is a log on the screen but when I click it, it dissapears. Hopefully I can find and post it. Edited December 10, 2020 by MoToad
Flappie Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 No, you can't: Quote Can I use my modules purchased from ED Store on Steam? Note: from 06/07/2014, License Keys purchased from ED, Gamefly or other External Sources will no longer activate on Steam. Please attach your "\DCS World\autoupdate_log.txt" log. We'll see if something prevents you to download DCS. ---
MoToad Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 Of course it happened again. autoupdate_log.txt
Flappie Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Thanks. If yes, are you still using it? ---
Flappie Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 (edited) Here's what I'm talking about: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/242225-update-error-quotcouldnt-resolve-host-namequot/ If you're not using Avast antivirus, try uninstall it using this official tool (there may be a hidden bit of Avast left on your computer). If you're using Avast, you should add your main "DCS World" folder as well as your "Saved Games\DCS" folder as exceptions. Edited December 10, 2020 by Flappie ---
MoToad Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Fixed! Put in a ticket and was told to shut down my firewall and use VPN, which I have. It was just not on. So, did that and lo and behold.
