Alright, here it comes. Be advised, any time I ALT+TAB it gets fixed and stutters stop. Its bizarre. I hope this catches it before the stop as I have to alt+tab every time to get those lists.

I think you just need to wait for NVIDIA to fix this issue.

As stated above the latest driver that does not show these issue is from may and your card cannot use it being a newer one.

So as they just aknowledged this issue there is nothing you can do on your side

@HiromachiPlease remove files contained inside "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache". Those are NVIDIA shader cache files. They will be recreated next time you launch DCS. You will probably get a message telling you some files cannot be deleted, just hit "Ignore" (Chrome and Firefox also use this folder). This trick once helped Reflected.

Oddly enough... I had a similar experience when MSFS2020 came out. I would get horrible jittering and frame rates would drop to 3, 2 ,1 and seemingly freeze.

Having two displays, I was attempting to "close window" on process icon minimized on the second monitor's task bar... but I found that if I just clicked the minimized icon the frame rate would immediately jump back to the 40s and stabilize again. I could do this over and over by simply banking and looking around.

I never found out why, but thought it was strange/interesting(ie a good reason to uninstall it 🙂 ).

Are you getting a shutdown of SteamVR  App only, DCS and WMR still running.  SteamVR shows an error message, SteamVR encountered a Critical Error.  This started about two weeks ago for me.  Also getting huge random frame rate  drops on Syria map when changing slot or exiting the Mission.  The Frame rate loss continues back to the splash screen and will continue until I select a different Mission, then frame rates increase back to expected range.

Asus Crosshair VII X470 motherboard, bios: 4007. I will switch PBO ON, though if I recall correctly I left it on AUTO.

So I've tried the above. Unfortunately process killing did not help and Virus might be right, just have to wait for Nvidia to step up.

Also, as it seems, turning PBO from Automatic to Enable actually lowered the clocks of the CPU. It seems that AMD microcode in the chip knows much better how to handle new CPUs than PBO which is implemented by motherboard manufacturers.

OK. Please try the following solutions against stuttering:

Check location of Temp folder

Set your monitor dsplay into fullscreen (Alt+Enter)

Disable Windows Game Bar DVR background recording

Close OneDrive (if it's on)

Check for a conflict between your headset software and Steam

And then, if you're motivated enough:

Reset Windows (after a proper backup of course)

My system: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @ 3.8 Ghz / X570 Aorus Elite  / MSI GeForce RTX 3080 / 32 GB DDR4 3600 MHz

I'm very new in the VR "business" .

I have the Reverb G2 since about 2 weeks and I have been trying these last weeks to optimize my settings for DCS (mostly followed the advice of Thud / VR4DCS for WIN 10 -  NVidia control Panel -  DCS graphics and VR setting)

I have a same/similar problem as described by @Hiromachi . My "test mission" is escorting bombers over Normandy.  When I get close to the bombers the "microstutters" start (the pink lines in fpsVR) . Through this post I applied the "ALT-TAB" trick and it works. The microstutters disappear (for a while) . They return after a while when the GPU load gets high but again the ALT-TAB makes the go away
Afterwards when closing / ending the mission the microstutters re-appear again and stay on even after DCS is closed!

After a re-boot and restart of SteamVR and DCS, by accident fpsVR did not load/start. Guess what I had NO microstutters during the entire mission. through the FPS counter in DCS my frames stayed always between 90 and 45 (reprojection) and only dropped to 30 when the bombers dropped their payload.

I re-played the mission now twice without fpsVR and no microstutters at all - I think this might be an answer
I would say an interaction problem between fpsVR and my RTX3080?

Yeah....I noticed the same.
With PBO auto I have better performances.

That is quite strange....

No, I checked it. It seems that FPS Vr in some reason affects the performance of SteamVR causing it to increase the usage of resources. I deleted my FPS VR and ... its miracle but it worked.

I rechecked and I found out that if fpsVR is running but with NO in-game overlay, then I have no microstutters.
Strange!

Anyway I will not start fpsVR automatically with SteamVR.

Well...better to reach to the fpsvr developers then...maybe they will have a fix for it.
I will try as well as soon as I can

This trick seemed to help out a few VR users, YMMV.

I believe this is outdates as WMR does that automatically.

I just tried to switch the motion smoothing to forced. Made a massive difference in switching between cockpit and map in VR. previously it took a second and sometimes it came even up with the "waiting DCS" logo. Now it switches instantaneously.

Will try a bit more tomorrow. Hopefully this solves the issues I had (massive frame rate/.frame time drop after some time playing, accelerated by switching to F10 map often or upon respawn. Even after existing into the main menu the frame time remained bad and the main menu was stuttering. Loading a different mission and then going back on the MP server sometimes cured it. Other times a restart of DCS and the HMD SW (all of them) was the only way to fix it. Like the memory was overflowing and it bottlenecked the entire system down.
(P.s. saw above a comment on VRAM: I have a 2080Ti with 11GB ram and flying in Syria maxes it out entirely - as well as 42GB of system memory).

Not unless Win10 Ver 20H2 does it automatically at it certainly made a massive difference for me running Ver 20H1 (AKA 2004) and I'm running 32Gb RAM and 24GB VRAM (3090).
