My 3090 Settings for my G2 (2.7.11)

performance is a function of the number of pixels you drive so, logically yes it will be a similar performance

Cool, thanks for that and performance was about the same? ie, same sort of FPS & frame times?

For the G1 vs the G2? They were running at the same effective resolution, performance was identical.

I might be mistaken but I thought the G1 and G2 both have the same native resolution of 2160x2160 ?

Hi - I went to 80% on SVR (although my resolutions for this go beyond the 3K x 3K values??) -- I also use WMR to what is described as the native resolution (4320 x 2160) ... ie not selecting "upscaling for performance". This for me is a super-sweet spot.

PS: funny how just a few days ago all this terminology was a confusing, foreign language.

Hello !

Are guys using the boundary or seated feature of WMR for the G2. I've been using the boundary and wanted to know there is a difference between the 2 as far as tracking. DCS is all I play.

Thanks

I use the boundary. as far as i can tell it is mostly preference, some people say that one or the other has better properties, i have not seen either being particularly superior to the other

I have this weird issue when I try to use the Reshade Sharpener and the Kegetys Shader Mod simultaneously, my loading times go through the bloody roof, I have to wait several minutes for anything to load. Any ideas what causes this? As soon as I remove either, things go back to normal.

no its not a problem i have , i have used them both. i do know that the intial load times are bad @Taz1004 mentioned the same/similar problem and noted that moving to my IC pass version seems to mitigate it.

Alright, it works, but I did have a few SteamVR crashes when testing, but performance gain is there and quite nice.

I genuinely dont know how to respond to that; there are a massive number of variables; so yes there is some work that needs to be done in order to both understand the settings and their impact... hopefully this thread cuts down on some of the nugatory work that goes on,  but, many of the settings become an individual choice of what works best for you... that said once my settings are locked I dont tend to mess with them unless something major changes...

Some perhaps.

Once I locked into the settings I like for DCS in my Reverb G2 I have pretty much left them there.

Hello @speed-of-heat

Thanks a lot for that beautiful guide, it really helps narrowing down things.

- How do you explain the performance increase when using alt + enter on the 'cropped to rectangle' VR preview ? We're supposed to have disabled the fullscreen optimization of windows in win10 settings, and also disabled in the Dcs.exe right ? that doesn't really make sense to me, and since my monitor is a G9 running at 5120x1440, im not sure it's gonna improve anything for me...

- I didn't see you using the command line in the autoexec.cfg (under saved games / Dcs / Config)

options.graphics.stereo_mode_use_shared_parser = true

Apparently it helps with performance, but introduce one or two minor graphic glitches (worth it)

is it intentional ?

- Are you gonna keep it up to date with new tests for every Nvidia drivers, or DCS, or BIOS (Rebar) releases ?

Cheers mate.

Thanks for the comments!

I’m not sure if I can explain the perf increase with ALT-Enter, but, it is observably there, I’m sure someone else can explain why it is, i suspect it’s a function no resources used by other processes or something like that.

I will keep it up to date … ish, but,  likely for major changes,or stuff that I’m playing with I use this partially as a journal for myself as much as anything.

in terms of BIOS release, ETC…yes but I only have one MB so I’m not intending to compile a database of hardware etc… but I’m happy to share what I do, but I’m not getting into promising to do anything.

in the context of rebar, that’s already there.

shared stereo parser, is a WIP and really not ready for prime time, it introduces so many graphical artefacts that while its perf increase is considerable, its functionally shattering to immersion, so no i have no plans to run a series against it for that reason... the benefit is not worth the pain to me.

And that's exactly why I stopped using VR in DCS. I spent more time flying the options screen than in the cockpit. Every six months I buy the latest and greatest PC hardware to see if I can get good VR performance in DCS (currently running a Silicon Lottery 11900K @ 5.2GHz, along with an RTX 3090 overclocked by 10%, and a Reverb G2), and it's still not good enough for *me*. I also try it out every few months if there's a major update to WMR, or DCS, to see if the software has solved the issue. But until I can get 60fps minimum with graphics quality settings that I like, I won't use VR. However, as we've seen different people have different preferences. Many are already happy with VR, and can't go back to 2D. Personally, I find my TrackIR + 55" LG C9 a much better experience, but I do look forward to the day when the DCS VR experience is perfect. I think it's within five years.
