It is good, and I am not ungrateful for it, but, functionally i'm now GPU bound... on a 3090 (let that sink in for a moment) ... 🤯

Crazy isn't it? Gz on the CPU, I still think that AMD is the way to go, especially since they will probably be dropping prices to counter Alder lake, but Intel is finally back in the game now which is great for consumers either way.

Yep effective competition is amazing for us. Strangely I would have gone with AMD this time around, if the reviews weren't so positive and the perf is awesome... one of the reasons i didnt go AMD is i would have to learn Overclocking all over again ... alas with Alderlake you have to learn Overclocking all over again... lol.. that said really impressed with the AI overclocking on ASUS Motherboards... it was incredibly painless

I get the impression that Intel may have taken a leaf out of AMD's book and released gen 12 already closer to it's limit at stock, so it may not actually be worth OCing much beyond an AI OC, or perhaps just tweak a little from the AI OC ?

Actually intel has said the exact opposite. that OC'er should be pleasantly surprised.

Nice system!

I think I am going to give my 9900k rig about one more year before embarking on an upgrade. Maybe even 2 if I am lucky.

Flat Shadows Removal doesnt work anymore, due to ED encrypting the folder.

you have to turn terrain shadows off, The zip file still works however, set cockpit shadows to medium

The zip contains a shadows.lua.

Whatever I try I never get a shadows.lua in config folder in either saved games or DCS folder. What am I missing?

yes and no.

In an absolute sense of course, however, many missions require much more performance than in my test track, which is really designed to be simple so that it is easy to understand the delta without dealing with complications.  My "strategy" is to create as much "headroom" as possible with a pleasing enough image to make the game enjoyable.

if I am content to run with motion smoothing forced on, is it safe to go past 11ms frame times and just target staying well clear of 22ms?

Below 11 is great, 11-22 is ok, above 22 is bad

So after playing with it for a bit, one of the big differences for me is on the deck of super carrier, which is now a smooth experiences even when looking directly at the super structure, or areas of high AI density.

Hello,

I need some advice from you guys. I mainly focused this week on setting up my new controllers (Winwing consoles and TM Pedals) and did not really play at all. When I tried to give it a shot today I noticed that my CPU frametimes jumped from the originally reported 8ms to 20-30ms all the time on all maps I tried. I double checked the video settings and nothing changed. I also cross checked IL2 and it is behaving complexity normal. I did not install anything major with the exception of controller related software but I removed it already. Do you guys have any idea what‘s possibly causing the issue?

Thanks in advance,

Stefan
