Thanks for pointing this out. Can you tell me more precisely what to do? Delete the Export.Lua file or parts of the content inside?

Found the post, thanks for pointing it out! I really like the WW hardware but the software part of it is underwhelming…

So after playing with it for a bit, one of the big differences for me is on the deck of super carrier, which is now a smooth experiences even when looking directly at the super structure, or areas of high AI density.

That sounds great, thats one of the "heavy" environments that always starts to approach slide shows.

<snip> Shadows for Reduced Frame Rate Impact, is a another MOD from Kegteys, that I have fiddled with to give me medium shadows inside the cockpit, which gives a nice effect

I have created a consolidation of the Sharper Eye changes Github version Sharper Eye Reshade.zip, YMMV, for convenience, I strongly suggest you do the work yourself to help you understand it, I am not the author  etc... At the moment I'm on the fence on this, on one hand PRETTY and on the other hand IMPACT, you need to play with this and make a determination for yourself if your machine can cope with the loading it causes.

This mod produces additional shimmering, I hadn’t really appreciated how much, until I turned it off after my latest band of testing. So it is clearer but the very sharpening nature of this produces a heat haze effect over a lot of the objects.  As a result it’s OFF for the moment, I haven’t tried upping the MSAA to counter it but x4 in VR feels ... foolhardy... </snip>

Shadows for Reduced Frame Rate Impact now gives me a performance degradation (about 10+ FPS loss, no GPU frametime stays about the same). Are you still using it and experiencing the same?

Are you still using Reshade? I have tried quite a few different versions, amongst which your 'Sharper Eye reshade' and 'Subtle' and another 'CAS Sharpen MSAA'-only version. I notice they all are quite heavy on the performance, even with default or turned down parameters. I also noticed that when Reshade is loaded, but all the effects are disabled it still takes a toll on my system performance. Fully removing it from the \bin gave me back a ton of performance (18FPS, GPU frametime stays about the same).

Quest 2 just got returned to Amazon, was not happy with image quality, G2 went on Sale today for €399 and will arrive Wednesday 11/24. This thread goes a ways back, is there a straight-forward guide for basic VR settings for a 3090/G2 somewhere or should I just read/study these 30 pages... ?

SoH changes the first post to reflect the next 30 pages so start there! Very useful although I swapped my G2 for Q2 in the end...😆

Yes I'm still using it, I havent noticed that particular perf degredation but i will retest and see.

I am using reshade at the moment, and i'm using the latest release from the author. i use a very minor sharpening.

@GaryRthanks, i didn't even know there was a DCS VR  discord! thanks!

@Ready I retested, it makes a very small improvement when the mod is present vs not but when present it improves GPU frametime by 0.15-0.20ms and CPU by 0.20ms on my standard test run, i suspect that will be a proportionate effect based on the number of vehicles casting a shadow... so the delta will increase/improve (as you add more objects that cast shadows) there was a reduction of about 1 FPS when the mod was not present as a result HTH

the one thing i will say is that these things are more about principles ... many of them still hold true... even after 8 months... maybe not in an absolute sense ... but in a relative sense... the one principle i weanted to get over is... there is no single answer for "everyone", you need to experiment and find out what works for you

G2 arrived today, getting set up and just installed Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR and I don't have a window like you show (attached) when it starts, just a regular SteamVR window. Assume this has been updated as the new Steam/Mixed came out only a few days ago. Also, what settings are you using above "OpenGL Rendering GPU" in Nvidia 3D settings? My only "complaint" so far is I had to unplug one of my monitors and do a bit of shuffling to the remaining two as the G2 requires a DisplayPort connection..

You can get there by hitting the windows key on one of your controllers. Then go to settings somewhere on the bottom left I believe I haven’t been to that in months but I believe that’s how you get there if I remember right.
