My 3090 Settings for my G2 (2.7.11)

I’ve used ready on the ramp to tune my settings and found that I need about 35 to 40 percent headroom there if I want avoid stutterwille over the city in Nevada. I run asw. It also seems that stutters show up around 80-ish percent headroom on the gpu and that 90 percent utilisation behaves more like 100 percent +. Don’t know if it’s fpsvr that reports to slow or what it is. Now ready on the ramp is perhaps not the best scenario to tune for gameplay in general so, how much headroom are people factoring in? Both for single and multi-player? Also the f16 seems to use somewhere around 15-18 percent more gpu utilisation compared to the f18. Do anyone else see the same?

thanks

It's literally in the 1st page https://forums.eagle.ru/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=185130

assuming you mean object shadows It reduces the radius of when shadows are cast by objects to be pretty much right on top of each other, if you get close enough you can get shadows on other aircraft... this wont effect terrain shadows.

Not sure how to answer this one... there is no single answer that will be "enough", however there is "practical" keep your GPU frametime as close to 11ms, assumes a headset operating at a native 90hz, as you can and ideally your CPU frametime below 11ms... percentage GPU/CPU utilisation is about as much use as fish with a bicycle ...

I get what you are saying. I’m just having a hard time tuning DCS as there are quite a few situations that spike frame time so much so that if I want to guarantee a stutter free experience I need a lot of headroom. What kind of mission or situation do you use when tuning DCS? Thank you for your guide by the way. It’s been very helpful.

Your welcome, I use a track, with the headset mounted with a fixed point of view… I do say this in the guide,

Getting a perfect set of performance isn’t going to happen some missions will cause spikes…

In my own experience some of those spike can be larger than 22ms… you can’t adjust for that by tuning the in game settings or pc…

Hey SoH, is there any benefit switching performance mode and Quality in WMR ?
I went in a Cold War PvP server last night and I have never seen my G2/VR perf drop under 40fps. I’m usually locked at 45fps in most cases. I have always had my WMR setting on quality. I feel like the clouds is the VR killer.

That cold war server is literally the worst running server in all of DCS. Its not you, its them. I normally barely ever see drops under 45 on any other server, but theirs I'm regularly in the 30's and even 20's.

Got my 3080Ti and HP G2 working quite well now.  I still need to get new glasses made that will fit inside the headset, but for now an old pair of reading glasses is getting the job done.  I fly at 4k in game with SSAA, MSAA, and Anisotropic filtering OFF.  Now all I want to do is fly the Syria Instant Action mission in the F-16 and pretend Colt-1 is a refuelling tanker.  LOL!  Awesome stuff!

Apply it using a mod manager and see… I honestly haven’t played much multiplayer in some time and can’t remember.

Was following the guide and couldn't get on to Hoggit server to test how the video settings will fare online. After a bit of digging turns out it's the shadow mod.

I can confirm that. The Shadows for Reduced Frame Rate mod fails IC check.

I tried all of the settings and windows tweaks and gained 1fps in total. Even with the shader mods.

But openFSR really changed the game, i have this to 0.67 and enabled 2x MSAA. Looks almost identical to the native resolution but performs 30% better.

Glad that you were able to get something that worked for you, no idea why the other changes didn’t impact you.

My MSI already has a gaming mode for max performance, that's what i suspect to do some of those tweaks.

Also, my graphcis settings were already as LOW as possible. That's why the shader mods may have no impact.

I was too late to comment on the FPS loss thread, but I have to say, I really wasn't expecting it, and ED weren't admitting it, but they sure as hell fixed it !!!

My frametimes are right back to 2.7.6 !!!

You've got to hand it to ED, Great Christmas present !
