..and maybe I've just forgotten how much better 2.7.6 was than 2.7.8, but Marianas seems a lot better optimised now to me.

Is it just me ?

i dont think i see any difference in perf ... beyond the 2.7.6 level

must be me. Shows how much of a hit 8-10 FPS was in VR between versions !

I was too late to comment on the FPS loss thread, but I have to say, I really wasn't expecting it, and ED weren't admitting it, but they sure as hell fixed it !!!

can anyone verify this?

openFSR really changed the game

does this work for SteamVR or can I use with stand alone DCSW with Oculis 2 and its software?

It works with DCS standalone. Regardless of your VR headset. Its an OpenVR feature.

Does NOT work with OpenComposite yet.

Thanks, if I read correctly this is for AMD GPUs only as nVidia already has this?

Oh i was referring to the Nvidia driver settings, not to openfsr. AKA I dont see an option to set FIS for DCS without openFSR

Hi!

Yesterday I’ve just found that on Reverb G2 SS 100% in SteamVR results in much better and stable performance than SS 50%.
Maybe there were SteamVR updates that changes something.
With my rtx3080 without motion smoothing I’ve got stable 45 fps on P-51, stable 45 fps on F-18 after takeoff (and nearly 30 on the ground). And only F-14 have 25 fps flying very low, but on 2k feet I have 45 fps too.

1) You are essentially saying that driving more pixels is more efficient than driving less pixels, I think I would be surprised if anyone would be able to replicate that experience, I know that I have not ben able to ...

2) if you are getting exactly 45 FPS then motion smoothing is switched on somewhere...

there is no native support for NIS or FSR in DCS, nor at the driver level , the only way to switch it on is to use fholger's mod

1) That was very big surprise for me too. Moreover, with SS 100% I had performance boost in IL-2 too, at least +10-15 fps. I think there were some updates of SteamVR, but I will test it today again.

2) No, it was not exactly 45 fps, like 43-48 depending on the scene. I've checked that there was no motion smoothing.

I am unable to replicate your findings, functionally i get between 60 to 90FPS at 100% and  84-90 at 50%

I tried it too, going back up to SS 100% from 80% (which is my default). My average FPS decreases with 5,5 FPS and my average CPU framerate increases by 3-3,5 ms.

I tested it again and now I think that my old processor is a bottleneck. It doesn’t matter for me, with SS 50% and SS 100% I receive 35-50 fps but in a first case my graphic card is not used on 100%.

  • speed-of-heat changed the title to My 3090 Settings for my G2 (2.7.9)
  • 3 weeks later...

Maybe I’m just dumb but I’m having a hard time deciphering this post. Not sure what graphical settings the tests are referencing. Are the pictures of the DCS graphics settings what you would recommend?

EDIT: Turns out The tables didn’t load right on mobile. Now on desktop I can appreciate this. Great work. Can’t wait to tune my settings with this

I found this today, anyone tested already?

https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit

Yes, I have tested it and it works, mostly.

However, please note that it is implemented using dxgi.dll instead of the original openvr_api.dll which means it will disable Reshade if you had it installed.

EDIT: found this about possibly combining, testing now...

https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit/issues/9

EDIT #2: Yes, you can combine them by renaming one "d3d11.dll".

perf seems about the same,  but, is it just me or is there more shimmer ? even with sharpening disabled?

Yes!!! It works, they can be combined, phew.

EDIT: Renaming vrperfkit's DLL worked, renaming reshade DLL didn't.

EDIT #2: Retesting, this may be wrong.

EDIT #3: Restested. It does not appear to matter which one is renamed. I just tried swapping the DLLs around and the combination of reshade and vrperfkit still worked.

Not had a chance to try as yet. Out of interest are you using the method outlined here to run reshade and holgers mod or just holgers mod on it's own?

Good stuff, thanks for letting us know 👍 Any requirement on which mod uses the d3d11 naming or can either?

I think I messed up key bindings the first time round.
