M3 tape's pilot's guide says Lock VMU message is one of those that can be heard by the pilot (16PR16226, page 49, year 2004). So unless later tapes docs specifically say that this function was removed (I cant find any evidence of that, as later tapes docs arent publicly available), it should apply. You can literally hear "Lock" when you do the betty warning sound test during startup. The sound is there, but ED has not implemented it in the ACM modes.
