fitness88 Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 It seems to me many more pilots prefer flying solo in single or campaign missions than in multi-player. I see hundreds of empty servers and relatively few servers actually populated. I wonder what can be done to help encourage more to fly MP without needing to commit to organized squadrons...nothing like flying with humans to teach and learn Personally I think there needs to be more attention to having 1 and only 1 comms program. The current DCS comms is a good start but needs to be expanded. I think many are intimidated by the lack of ease to integrate with others.

Our server has grown exponentially after a certain "popular DCS YouTuber" released a video showing a very small part of the mission. While it isn't for "newbies" - it is a "friendly" community. Personally, I find single player exceptionally boring after flying in MP. That being said, I only fly in one multiplayer server. Single player could be boring for me, because once you get accustomed to what is available in the XSAF mission, all others feel "lacking." Biggest reason being that most servers "it doesn't matter" if you don't bring the aircraft home or are careless with your stores (including fuel) - in ours, it all matters and matters big time. I agree that comms are the biggest frustration in multiplayer. I haven't tried the built in DCS comms. Discord comms become a joke when you have more than a handful of players, unless they are all very disciplined over comms. SRS is the best solution currently - but it becomes even more difficult when people don't know how to use SRS, have it setup incorrectly - or when you need to monitor more radio frequencies, simultaneously, than the aircraft allows and some are using DCS SRS scripts and others aren't. Personally, I connect external EAM so I am not limited by the number of radios in a given aircraft. dburne Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 I am a single player guy all the way, always have been over all these years of flight simming. Campaign are my main interest - love some good campaigns. And I have finally , after spending hours and hours with the Hornet just trying to learn everything about it, actually flying my first campaign in it. And loving every minute of it. Finally I am actually flying combat and blowing stuff up. For a while there did not think I would make it.
