Spitfire fuel tank gauge?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I know you can have different feeds for fuel from various tanks. When you have only top and main tank, my gauge reads 0 gal unless I press the button by the gauge. I would assume when the top tank is empty and the feed is from the main tank you should then get a true tank level on the gauge. But on prolonged flights I have run out of fuel due to the gauge saying tank full unless I press the button for a true reading. Am I missing a trick is there something else I should be doing or switching over.

Thx Doc62.

The gauge will always display 0 when the button is not pressed.

It will show a value while the button is being pressed.

The value will depend on how much fuel is remaining in the lower tank.

The lower tank, as per my experience, will always be drained last.

Therefor, you have to regurarly press the button to see how much fuel you have left. It will only show the true amount of fuel left though, once you are down to the lower fuel tank.

Np.

Maybe a tipp for you:

You have roughly about 1h of fuel, depending on engine setting.

So for like the first 30 mins of flight, you dont have to check it often. But after 30 mins, it makes sense to check more often, say all 10 mins or less.

Once the gauge moves down, you'll see how quickly it drains (on combat setting and higher)
