dresoccer4 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 (edited) Hello - I am having issues attempiting to download the Syria terrain. I begin the download and after 5-10 minutes it fails. I try again, and another 5-10 minutes of download it fails. This happens over and over. I've attached the update log. The last few entries say: 01165.860 ERROR: Got Curl error (6): Couldn't resolve host name 01166.622 ERROR: Conection to server 'www.digitalcombatsimulator.com' failed: Couldn't resolve host name 01166.622 ERROR: statistics failed with status -1 01166.624 STATUS: Curl error (6): Couldn't resolve host name 01656.351 === Log closed. This makes me think there is something wrong with the DCS servers. Otherwise the game plays fine and my internet is fine. autoupdate_log.txt Edited February 15, 2021 by dresoccer4 Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules
Flappie Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Hi. Either you've lost the internet during download, or a security software is bugging the updater. Try adding these folders as exceptions in your antivirus: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta ---

Flappie Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Yep, it's an antivirus software like the others. I'm using it too. Tell me if it solved the issue. ---
Nessie Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Yep, same issue here. Weird thing is updater has just downloaded latest dcs update & have had no issues with previous terrain downloads, so i doubt it is a security software issue.
Flappie Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 @NessieCan you please attach your autoupdate_log.txt file? (it's located in your main \DCS World\ (or \DCS World OpenBeta\) folder. ---
Nessie Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Cheers Flappie, file attached. autoupdate_log.txt previous file was 03.03.21, attached last for comparison here date 17.02.21 autoupdate_log_old.txt
Flappie Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Thank you. Here's what I see in the most recent log file: UTC 2021-03-02 17:16:40 "Cancelled by user." afer 1h47 of activity UTC 2021-03-03 09:25:14 "Got Curl error (6): Couldn't resolve host name" after 7 minutes of activity UTC 2021-03-03 09:33:36 "Cancelled by user." after almost 2 hours of activity UTC 2021-03-03 11:31:19 "Successfully updated to 2.5.6.61527.2" after 35 seconds of actvity UTC 2021-03-03 11:32:30 "Cancelled by user." after 1h16 of activity Maybe your PC briefly lost the internet at 9h25 UTC? Is it you who cancelled the 3 others interrupted downloads, as the log says ? ---
Nessie Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Yep, i got fed up with it & canceled it. One min its downloading & next its not. Canceled it cos it looked like it will take a all day to download. Update went no problem as shown?? Cant see why the download of the syria map should then be an issue if the update isn't.
Flappie Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 The Syria map is very large. To this date, this must be the longest module to download. You may want to check the QoS settings of your router (more about it here). If you haven't yet, try what I suggested here with your antivirus. Here are a few examples of things able to mess with the DCS updater (mostly antivirus, but not only): ---
