Rudel_chw
Hello, I've searched, but can't find what is DCS's magnetic declination for this Map ... does anyone know? Istari6
Interestingly, I just checked the following site: https://maps.ngdc.noaa.gov/viewers/historical_declination/ It appears the historical magnetic declination for 1944 was 10 deg W of N for the Normandy to southern England axis, declining to 8 deg W of N for central France. This seems very different from the information above?
Reflected
I'm also experiencing 10 degrees. So true 90 is magnetic 80. But sometimes not...it's a bit confusing.. 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Reflected
Wait a minute...after setting the compass of my Spitty properly, it seems to be 8 degrees the other way. So 90 true is 98 magnetic. Now I'm totally confused 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Reflected
I just set up a mission in March 1944 using the F-16. True 90= Magnetic 101. Warbirds show crazy different readings. P-51 shows true course, Spit and P-47 show 80 when true course is 90. JUICE-AWG
@Rudel_chw With the new release, I think the Normandy map is coded backwards on Mag Vari...test it and see what you notice. Slippa
I think when it comes to a warbird compass, I’m coded backwards. I need some tutorials I can grasp

What do you mean? Historical declinations on both The Channel and Normandy 2.0 maps are not entirely correct (off by about one degree), but they're not "backwards". 1 Dima | My DCS uploads
JUICE-AWG
Meaning the Mag Compass is set to true north and not fudged to represent the magnetic declination. We had this issue when Nevada first came out. "There are only two types of aircraft, Fighters and Targets." We had issues with NTTR when it came out...the Mag Declination wasn't programmed in and I think something similar is happening on Normandy 2. Cabi and I are flying on nav plans and the true heading gets us to the destination when we it should be magnetically adjusted for the variation....
