Mission 16 seems to be having the same problem as Mission 11, where you do everything right and seem to complete all of your objectives, but it still counts as a failure.  In my case, the blue side intercepted and shot down all 8 of the red airplanes before they could attack any of the helicopters, but it still counted as a loss.

I noticed the blue AH-1s were getting shot down by ground fire from the red ground forces they were attacking.  If the mission requires a certain number of the helicopters to survive, then that's likely what's causing the problem.

Also, there is way too much going on in this mission and it's causing my (normally okay) framerate to barf.  Please consider removing some of the AI units to improve performance.

I'm testing these missions with quite an average system and it was okay on my end. I'll run some tests later on today.

Did the mission again.  All the MiGs dead, returned to base, landed, turned on the ground power, set the time acceleration to 20x, sat there on the ground for half an hour of simulated time monitoring the radio and watching the blue forces.  Eventually they all stopped moving or doing anything, and I did not get a mission completion message, a radio message about capturing Ubinskaya, or anything else.  Still counts as failed and cannot progress.

Now that I've played the mission a few more times, another item: the player's missiles in this mission are the rear aspect only AIM-9P missiles, not the all-aspect AIM-9P5s the player has become accustomed to having over the first 15 missions.  That's a big change, especially since this is an air to air mission, and it's easy to miss because the mission briefing doesn't highlight it.  Unless you read the mission briefing very carefully, it's likely to be a rude surprise when you encounter the MiG-23s and find yourself wondering why the damn missiles aren't getting tone.  If giving the player the less effective missiles was intentional, you might want to highlight that in the briefing, something like "Hey, we ran out of the new P5 Sidewinders, so you'll have to be equipped with the older rear-aspect P Sidewinders for this mission."

Hi,

I'll test it a bit later today. I have a feeling that there's a bit more to this than just a bug, Most of the missions where you support ground forces are quite balanced. In this one, for example, If the red planes get too close to the ground troops, when they escape you,  it causes the helicopters to go defensive and not support the ground troops, this causing the ground troops to sustain too many losses and not be able to capture the city. The same thing with the F-4's if they get defensive they won't be able to have their ground attack and complete, so the helicopters will have a higher AA threat, and will not be able to support the ground troops.

Any chance you may have saved a track of your mission?

Well, I found it. I'll post the fix on a separate thread. Keep in mind that after you clear the air of enemy fighters and Cobra's are going back to supporting the ground troops, there is about 10-15 minutes of loitering time. I change the load out as well. That was my bad. Also, keep in mind that you can select your loadout before you start the mission from the mission planner or, you can change it on the ground before startup.
