*.trk files won't play in Tac View

I'm more than a little surprised that there is no mention anywhere that Tac view can not play *.trk files. So my questions are...

- Why would DCS/Tac View create a file that isn't supported?

- What needs to be done so I can use Tac view?

I'm not sure to understand your issue ... for DCS, TacView uses it's own telemetry file format (ACMI)  since DCS doesn't have one .. a TRK file is not a telemetry file, but a flight replay file .. not the same thing. This means that you can use Tacview to analyze DCS flights only after you have installed Tacview, you can't use Tacview to analyze old DCS flights that you may have recorded in TRK format.

Thank you guys for your responses. I have Tac View set up in DCS. I'm still don't understand how I get the ACMI files. If DCS generates a trk file and Tac View only plays ACMI, where is the ACMI file? BTW, just tried to use replay in DCS and the program stopped responding.

it’s on /users/your-user/documents/tacview

The easiest way is to open Tac View and click Open - this should open the folder containing the Tacview .acmi files. You set this folder from Tacview and not DCS. Click the spanner and screwdriver icon in Tacview and then select ACMI files recording folder... from the menu

Hi everyone.

Thank you in advance for your help. I need to clarify... I've ran a search for ANY/ALL *.acmi files anywhere on my computer. The result was zero (0). So again I'm wondering, where are the acmi files?

Mine are at /Documents/Tacview:

Make sure that on your saved games/dcs/scripts/export.lua there is a line activating Tacview, one like this:

local Tacviewlfs=require('lfs');dofile(Tacviewlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/TacviewGameExport.lua')

If you don't then reinstall Tacview or ask for help on their Forum.
