Hello there,

I am recently trying to swap the external model of JF17 with some other external models that are already existing in the game, i.e. a Su-27 external model, while I am flying with a JF17 cockpit. I think this is something similar to some of the VSN flyable mods, which you will have an external model of a Typhoon or F-18F, while you are using a F-15C cockpit to fly it.

I can swap the external model without any problem. What I did was to copy & paste the Su-27 external model into the Shape folder of JF-17, then modify the JF-17.lua file to link to this external model instead of the original JF-17 model. However, the cockpit position within the external model is obviously not correct. When I fly it, the cockpit is within the fuselage of the Su-27 external model, because Su-27 is taller and longer than the JF-17. My question is, how can I modify the cockpit position so it sits in the position where the Su-27 cockpit is, and I can fly it like a normal plane with proper view?

Here's what I have tried and failed. Most of my efforts were focusing on modifying the .lua files. I have changed the Views.lua of JF-17, changing the numbers following CockpitLocalPoint. I have also modified the pos parameter within the crew_members section. None of modifications seem to change anything.

I am starting to wonder whether these position information were hard coded into the external 3d model? I am sure someone on this forum have attempted something similar before. So if you have immediate knowledge on the subject, or if you can point me to the right direction or another post, that would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
