Orwell Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 So I'm looking for a target. I see it on my HSD, and I'm using my HSD to turn onto the datalink target's heading. Hit dogfight mode. HSD goes away and I'm looking at SMS. Worse, there is no OSB for HSD on screen, so then I'm turning onto a bandit, trying to get eyes on him, and also messing with OSB to get back to the HSD. This cannot be realistic.
_SteelFalcon_ Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 (edited) You can double-tap on an empty osb on the bottom and add the HSD just like you add the WPN page when using Mavs. Set if up during your startup sequence so you have it ready when you need it in combat i do that for Dogfight mode aswell as for missile override modes just in case Edited March 10, 2021 by _SteelFalcon_
Katj Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I don't know what the default mfd pages are IRL, but there is a simple solution to your problem. Before takeoff (or while cruising or whatever), you select the master modes you are likely to use at that particular flight (nav/a2a/a2g/dogfigh, etc.) and set your MFDs according to your preference. Your settings are saved so that the next time you switch modes, your MFDs are already set up. 2 1

The default pages IIRC are programmable in data cartridge, something ED hasn't implemented yet. Yes, HSD page not being there by default in dogfight mode is a strange omission. 3 Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
Furiz Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I always set up my plane while alignment is being done, A-G and DGFT and other modes so I'm don't have to worry about that in the air. Dunno which is the default setup in the real plane tho. 1
Dragon1-1 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 IRL, you would set that up before flight, using your DTC. I'm not sure the real Viper even has defaults, or if it'll present you with the DTC page in every master mode if you try to boot it up without loading one up. Setting it up by hand is currently the only way to do it in DCS, but hopefully we'll get proper DTC functionality sooner or later. 1
Florence201 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Pointless talking about DTC’s when ED hasn’t delivered one! Set things up pre-flight or in the transit of air start [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Northstar98 Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Yeah, they were just saying that this should be user configurable using the DTC, as of right now, you're only option is to go into each mode and configure the MFD pages as desired, for each mode.
