Leltch Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 As the name suggests, more than only 2 combat factions, the neutral faction just dont attack at all no matter what. It would open huge possibilities if DCS had more than 2 factions. I know its a hard thing to do because IA and all but still... 4
Northstar98 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 A long requested addition, and one I certainly agree with. Personally, my best case scenario is be able to add, edit and delete coalitions/factions at will and select their respective allegiances to each other, as well as maybe have their allegiances dynamic and have the possibility for them to change mid-mission. This would be incredibly useful in scenarios with multiple belligerents with complex ROEs, for instance, the current situation in Syria, where you have 4 main belligerents. The recent-ish neutral coalition was a step in the right direction, but it's more limited in terms of what you can do with it, right now it's just all of the unassigned forces who aren't hostile or friendly. 3 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. Terrains I own: South Atlantic, Syria, The Channel, SoH/PG, Marianas. To spring of this post, a good system would be something like Armas's, where the Neutral (Independent) coalition can be set as either enemy/friendly for Blue and red coalition independently, and with ability to switch allegiance mid mission. 2

Absolutely, I think Arma had 4 coalitions, red, blue, green and civilian. As you said you could set the allegiance of green and have it change mid-mission, which would be more useful. C:MANO allows you to add, edit and remove what it calls 'sides' as you desire, I haven't ran into a limit so far (it's a bit different to DCS though; there aren't countries to populate them with as such, you simply pick what equipment you give that side, though there's nothing stopping you setting each country to be its own side). Each side can have its own doctrine/ROE and when it comes to allegiance you can set 4 different types for every other 'side' independently (which are friendly, neutral, unfriendly or hostile, I think the difference between the last 2 is whether or not they'll actually fire on each other or not). Excellent point, a civilian faction (ideally with some ability to dynamically spawn, similar to the road traffic we have now but for some foot traffic in towns for example) would be a very useful addition. Having these 4 sides would definitely widen mission makers ability to create interesting scenarios considerably. 1

Absolutely, same applies to civilian shipping (we had a new civilian ship recently) as well as if we get any AI civilian aircraft (so far we only really have Yak-40, there is the CE-2 but I would've thought that would've been more rare). It's also good for static animals, as well as what you mentioned with regards to civilian foot and vehicle traffic.
