Hello,

Finally, I finished the third variant of this mission .. .also fixed the date to match my previous two training missions.

These three missions finish the first Section of the Training, now onto some Weapons training, will start with CCIP Bombing 👍

I will need the 476th Target Range Mod for the next mission, but that should be no problem for users that are already used to a Mod 🙂

Best regards,

Eduardo

Thanks a lot for the invite, but I don't really fly MP anymore, only Single Play .. it's even more relaxing 🙂

I used to be in a Portuguese virtual squadron for around 3 years and i´m more a single player (create my own missions with statics etc) but believe me, i miss to fly with a friend. Sometimes i wish i have someone just to fly a relaxing mission/flight. Flying with someone sometimes it´s awesome 🙂

Keep flying and enjoy as always Rudel.

Cheers from Portugal,

F.

I've almost the same experience, being part of a Spanish squadron for 1.5 years ... but now a happy SP guy, enjoying paid-Campaigns and my own missions.

I don't miss my MP days, as I didn't actually made real friends during my MP time, maybe it was too much of a cultural difference or age difference (I'm 62, while the rest of the squadron was probably half my age).

Anyway, I really enjoy DCS more now, than when I was on my MP "phase" .. I get to fly what I want, how I want and whenever I want ... that is simply price-less 😀

Cheers.

I have the same feeling. Fly and practice with my procedures and add the details i want to my missions is priceless.

With the squadron i have a lot of real workload besides my insane day job. I love all of my work in the squadron, but it was too much in this phase of my life.

(i will be 45 in 2 weeks).

Well, back on topic 🙂

Cheers.

I've downloaded and installed the latest mod....but my AI aircraft don't takeoff or, when started in the air, proceed to a dive then crash.  Any idea what could be wrong?

Thx / Dave

I have only used it as player aircraft, I will test it as AI later and report.

Edit: Can confirm the bug, the AI aircraft does not take off, attains a speed of 130 knots but does not take off and crashes at the end of the runway. Reduced fuel load to 10%, no stores, and it still doesn't take off. Here is a track file.

This is the start of my Helios profile the the A29.  I have located 4 viewports so far and have them displayed on the profile.  All of the buttons and dials are just for show at this time.  My next stage will be to try to code the MFD buttons.  However, as there is no key commands for them, this will take some time.

I hope the developer will add more bindings .. I'd love to have the UFCP keys binded, so that I could use the numeric pad on the keyboard to enter coordinates 🙂

Hello again,

Up to now I was using the A-29 with just basic Hotas configuration. Today I wanted to make a more complete Hotas programming, bur unfortunately a Google search reveals little about the real Hotas. Does anyone know if these keybindings are currently working and/or what they are for?

Call = {c}
Designate = {ENT}
Step = {d}
Undesignate = {RSHF ENT}
Cage/Uncage = {u}
Machine_Gun_Distance = {LSHF m}
Machine_Gun_Rearm = {LCTL m}
Machine_Gun_Selection = {LALT m}

Thanks a lot for any help, in the meantime I will go by trial-error to advance a bit on this subject 🙂

Best regards,

Eduardo

Edit: This is the first version for my HOTAS layout, most of the function works fine, but some lack functionality, for example the first stage of the gun trigger and the TDC slew.

The IA self-destruct once they take off, what is this failure due to, I have not yet been able to do a mission accompanied by my escorts because they always end up falling to the ground, is there a possibility that this error can be fixed?

from the readme: "The development is in a very early stage, but the author has decided on releasing it in hopes it will help others on the implementation of modern aircraft systems using SFM.". I’m sure this bug will be fixed over time.

A lot of mod makers are just learning stuff as they go. It's not like they are paid employees of ED who can email or phone another employee who knows all about making AI units fly well. And I bet a lot of it is trial and error, especially since mod makers don't have access to the development kit that actually describes how to do things. Instead there's  likely some guesswork and then see if a change is a good one or not.

We are experiencing some strange AI behavior on different missions. Working on that.

We are working on that. We updated the SFM according to A-29B pilots feedback and in some missions AI are not able to fly or takeoff.

That's awesome man. The devel version do have key bindings for UFCP and CMFDs.

Did you need to change any code from the mod? If so, please tell so we can add it to the mod.

Also feel free to contact me for any changes you might need. Never worked with Helios and you help is very appreciated.

To get the view ports to appear on the second screen, I had to modify my monitor config file (attached) and also I had to add some lines to each init.lua file like the following so that the monitor config file and the init.lua files had the same view port names.

dofile(LockOn_Options.common_script_path.."ViewportHandling.lua")
try_find_assigned_viewport("[use same name as in monitor config file]")

I have attached an example of the left mfd init file.  See the last lines.

I would like to have your key commands for the UFC and the two MFDs so I can code the buttons on my profile.  Key codes are the easy way to work with Helios.  There is another hard way to do it with Helios, but I could not get it to work.

Helios is a fantastic FREE program.  You can learn more about it at http://www.captzeen.com/helios/index.asp and his discord channel.

I get confused on the instructions for making a snap view.  Could you please give me the steps for one of them?

Hi,

Customisation Procedure:

The keystroke RAlt+Num0 (default binding) will save the current view position against the last-selected Snap View, or against the "default" view if that was the last selected. The simplest procedure for customising a Snap View is as follows:

Customising a Snap View:

1. Set your current view up as you want it saved.
2. Press LWin+NumN - NumN being whichever numeric keypad key you intend customising. Your view will briefly snap to whatever the current snap view setting is for that key, then return to your previous view.
3. Press RAlt+Num0 - The snap view should now be saved.

Test it by changing your view, then holding down LWin+NumX - you should see your customised snap view!

Thanks.  I got it to work, but I have not figured out how to set it up in the controls as I do not use target, etc.  I tried RS Mapper but that does not use POV hat switches.  I will think on this some more.

Snapviews don't really work well alongside headtracking, for me the best results is when I disable the headtracker (with a hotkey) and then click on the snapview combination ...

I'm very fortunate that my Hotas software allows me to bind onto a Hat position a combination of several commands, not just a single keybind like on DCS control page. So, when I press a Hat position, the Hotas generates the key to stop the headtracker, followed by the Snapview keys, and then if I press the same hat position a second time, it generates the keys in reverse order (restore the view and then enable the headtracker).

For example, on this video I test the headtracker limits of movements and the briefly the operation of the snapviews (for the Hud, left & right mfd and warning panel):
