F22 or one of the new JSF's

That won't happen until the stuff about them becomes declassified.

Current Sims:

DCS Black Shark, Falcon 4.0, X-Plane 9, Steel Beasts Pro PE, IL-2 1946, ArmA 2, FSX, Rise of Flight, EECH, Harpoon 3 ANW, CSP

I think my point stands ;)

I think his point was since they already have alot of the avionics from lock on for the C, it could possiblly be both the C and E versions in one module.

You would know more than I.

I still say the F/A-18 or the F-16 is the perfect choice because it would appeal to a large fanbase AND has a large variety of mission types. Want to dog fight? Both can do it. Want to take out enemy air defense? Same. Escort...you get my point.

I know the A-10 is next, and then it has been suggested that the AH-64 Apache is next (though never confirmed at all), but I for one am dying for the F/A-18, especially based on a carrier. The old Jane's games were good, but today's computers usually don't run them well, and to be honest, they just don't hold a candle to what they have now.

Personally, I was trying to play F/A-18 by Jane's a year ago, and at ever explosion the entire thing locked up. The only way I could play was to have no sound.

I just pray that F/A-18 comes after A-10, and if not then that it comes after AH-64a Apache (or whatever is the 3rd module).

There was a Russian carrier-based plane in LoMAC, but aside from that it has been a long time (and I just never did feel as comfortable in that Russian Navy plane...think it was due to pining for the F/A-18)

Remember, on Nov. 4th, vote for Black Shark for President!!!

To be honest, I'm not too bothered what comes after the A-10 as long as it's.....

a. A fast jet

b. Multi-Role

c. Reasonably modern (ie. still in service with the armed forces of a major nation)

So while I'd like to fly an F-15C, F-14 or even one the russian SU-27 or MIG-29 varients I think we need a muli-role fast jet first. And with carrier ops would be great, again I could cope without.

As a Falcon 4 man active in the multiplayer community, I can say with certainty that DCS will not attract the vast majority of Falconers until it has the above. And even then, without a true dynamic campaign many will still not pick up DCS. I certainly won't be able to think of DCS as anything more than source of occasional entertainment until it happens.

Wow, I wouldn't of picked the F/A18 to be that popular. I suppose a lot of Countries (my own included) have them.

I'd kind of forgotten about our F-18s, I just want carrier ops. I suspect that's why a lot of people are voting for it too. F-14 would also be good for same reason, don't think it's been done for some time.

Blackhawk. Troop/Cargo, Medevac, and attack(rare, but extremely cool) variants.

Yeah, that's something that would be nice, although ED has previously said that it has to be something that they can get all required info without anything being classified in order to keep it on par with the already outstanding Ka-50.

The only drawback to that is you may have to settle for an aircraft that isn't currently a mainstay in any country's fleet. Such as the already outstanding Ka-50.

Yeah, could be an issue. But then when you look at the in service a/c where there is enough info to make a sim you end up with the likes of the F-16, F-18 and I'm sure there is enough data for the SU-27 and Mig-29 as well. It's only really the newer jets like the Raptor & Typhoon that would be difficult/impossible. But then there is enough data available on the Typhoon if you know where to look ;).

Like radar and jamming kit...

I wouldn't mine seeing some older jets like -

F14 - the newest version that was in service

A6 - Flight if the Intruder anyone??? you know what to say whenyou punch out don't you....

Bucc - It may be british but it was damn good

Jaguar - see above

Mirage - any version...

and some others

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Man....F-18`s leading. C`mon ED give us F-18A/C/E and leave Apache behind. Now I think I should run and duck :D

I think you should . Go the Choppers.:music_whistling:

But that said, I think the Harrier would be pretty high up there if it was in the vote.

The only one of those that might be considered multi-role is the Su-35.

The rest are specifically tailored to fill one role, and the other is thrown in as afterthought.

In any case, about the only one of those you'd ever have a chance of seeing is the 15E. ;)

Hey, the F-22 is multirole! It can hide AND be pretty to look at!

(Sorry. I realize how worthless that post is, but I recently got finished with a debate with a guy that was certain that the 22 was the dog's bollocks and a direct gift from God and it will single-handedly ensure american supremacy for the foreseeable future. And it was cheap. The affair was traumatizing and I need to vent. :( )

Well, he was right ;) For what you get out of it isn't all that expensive. 8 F-22's can do the job you'd normally need three times their numbers for with F-16's and F-15's. And that means less tanking, less dedicated ECM support, etc etc ... so yeah, it isn't all that expensive.

This is true.

However, he had it in his mind that it is "stealth". And in his world, "stealth" means "invincible". Therefore, no-one can ever kill an F-22 and therefore no-one can in any way ever challenge the US.

And in this guy's world, the proof of the "invincibility" of the 22 was the fact that only one 117 was shot down. Which means it is impossible to ever kill a 22, since the 22 is better than the 117. Therefore, the US wins.

Though to be honest, the argument left the actual subject matter at that point, whereupon he tried to counter arguments of cost per airframe compared to other airframes solely with the argument that Sweden (my country) has way too many muslim immigrants and is therefore a failing state.

Don't ask me, I don't know. :P

But that debate wasn't exactly knowledgeable, and while I could describe it to you it would probably take too much off-topic space for this thread. However, since you are definitely more knowledgeable on the subject than I am, if you would like to I wouldn't mind going through the general gist of the arguments of both myself and him in PM. I might well learn something. :)
