some1 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 (edited) Cockpit illumination activates immediately when the mission loads, even in cold&dark state with all power and circuit breakers off. There is no way to turn the illumination off, the instrument light brightness knob does not do anything. Immediately after mission loads (cold & dark) 5 seconds later (still cold & dark) EDIT: the same issue is also visible with D9 and Bf. Looks like something's wrong with code responsible for UV/radium glow at night. 5 seconds later 5 seconds later Edited March 22, 2021 by some1 3 2 Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
LeCuvier Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 (edited) The numbers and graduations on the instruments are fluorescent. They have no visible effect at daylight or even dawn conditions. But at night the deffect is very visible. The two attached screenshots show the cockpit in a night takeoff situation, first with Instruments Brightness all the way down, and the second all the way up. Note: when you turn brightness down again, it takes some time before the fluorescence fades so you may thing that the "decrease" command doesn't work. The Dora and Kurfürst are similar in function although the light effects are different. Edit: the forum seems to strugghle with the large file size and it has reversed the sequence. PS: the picture with lights fully up highlights an old bug reported ages ago, the IAS speed instrument has fluorescent only on the most significant digit of the numbers. How can you say there's no visible effect when my first two screenshot show otherwise. Actually, it doesn't occur if mission is set to overcast. So it makes me think that they tried to make them glow in response to the sun or something. Needles to say, that's not how fluorescence looks in real life. It doesn't make the whole cockpit glow "purple" or even the glow of the actual fluorescent parts is too faint to be noticeable in daylight. swartbyron Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 (edited) I’ve brought this up here. They have tried to simulate phosphorus paint on the gauges that would naturally be made to glow from the energy of the sun by linking the UV light switch to daylight brightness in the sim. Works great and makes the gauges glow just like they did in real life after some time in direct sunlight but its completly utterly spoiled by bright purple glow of the UV lights. This purple glow makes it look really ugly and unnatural in the day time and spoils emersion for me. I really hope the fix this soon. Edited March 24, 2021 by swartbyron 4
swartbyron Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 OpenBeta 2.7.0.4625 this is still a problem! With the instrument lighting switch turned down and circuit breaker open the fluorescent lighting is still on in the day time. 3

ED Team NineLine Posted May 10, 2021 ED Team Posted May 10, 2021 I just checked the Anton over, can someone give me a track with the lights on before start? I am not seeing it here, how they dim is a but slow, so that threw me a bit, but I dont see them on before turning on power. I believe the Dora is just incorrect in its operation, and would probably need to wait on a new cockpit before it is fixed properly. And same with the 109, it sorta works right but sorta doesn't. But it would probably need a new cockpit as well. 2 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
some1 Posted May 10, 2021 Author Posted May 10, 2021 1 hour ago, NineLine said: can someone give me a track with the lights on before start Attached is a simple mission, just load it and the lights will turn on. The issue is that in all aircraft, the fluorescent instruments start to glow on a sunny day (no overcast). The effect is rather awkward, but it's particularly bad in the Anton because the lights glow is also incorrectly wired to that effect and not the actual lamps.
