Walshtimothy
Surely a 1 hour job to add a polygon area to the map to allow planes to land on the map ... or fix the borked landing off field characteristics ? Or even better ... allow custom map edits to place limited fobs and grass strips to allow some mixing up of missions , this could also really benefit the modern scene 4 walshtimothyWW2 virtual flier - currently playing on 4ya ww2 - youtube channel here https://www.ww2adinfinitum.blog - https://projectoverlord.co.uk/
burritto
It's great to see some general updates and bug fixes coming in the next Open Beta (hopefully) for this map. Another 6 weeks on from the last request for an update, is there any indication as to whether this may be a possibility? Did they (Ugra) get the email, or is it in their spam folder?

Brigg
absolutely. this map is in dire need of having its airfields more historically placed and new ones added that were there Edited November 3, 2021 by Brigg
Walshtimothy
I've managed to add some basic landable airfields using blender and its edm exporter , if possible could these be added as an official asset or could a game grade version of this be added ( it's really basic but will solve a lot of issues regarding mission planning and should be an easy win for you devs ) also , I've found a bug on normandy the remove trees and objects trigger zone and trigger doesnt work here. Cheers. 3 walshtimothyWW2 virtual flier - currently playing on 4ya ww2 - youtube channel here https://www.ww2adinfinitum.blog - https://projectoverlord.co.uk/
Walshtimothy
so after some help from those mr knowledable than i , inland normandy trees and objects can be removed , it appears those near the coast are baked in for about a mile .... is this a bug ? cheers. walshtimothyWW2 virtual flier - currently playing on 4ya ww2 - youtube channel here https://www.ww2adinfinitum.blog - https://projectoverlord.co.uk/
barry_c
+1 Adding an "airfield surface" object would be fantastic for mission makers to expand by adding in airfields where their please. Would be great for adding them next to historical locations or as close as possible, also opens up the mission opportunities, Walshtimothy above has proven this concept, (Could you post your video please so ED can see?) 1 AMD Ryzen 5 3600 OC'd 4.2Ghz | 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz | RTX 3070Ti Founders Edition | Oculus Quest

MJDixon
Would be great to have some extra airfields added for the Axis side to make the map even more useful, especially considering the ongoing expansions to the Syria map.
burritto
Is there any update on whether the original request in this post gained any traction at all with Ugra? Is there any hope for either the requested field, or other fields on the Normandy map?
DawnSentinelRP
I am sure we all know that this map is simply lacking in features, adding this airfield would atleast make up for some of the errors of the map. So +1 chaps Edited November 9, 2021 by DawnSentinelRP
Teckel
Would be great if ED could support talented modders such as @Walshtimothy with proper editor support so they can really flesh out terrains to reach their full potential. Right now, the Normandy map in particular is missing essentially all of the Luftwaffe's historical airfields during Overlord. And support like this along with expansion of the map itself would be of great benefit to the DCS WWII community. 1
Yob
Not sure if it has been stated already, but adding to this map, would greatly please the ww2 community and a way to enhance the general DCS sandbox would be allowing mission makers to create airfields/farps. Not only would that benefit ww2 but would be huge for the helo fellas aswell. +1 to new airfields +1 to ability to create new airfields 1 487th Squadron Section Leader

Brigg
Yeah absolutely. If Urga media are going to bury their heads in the sand about the mess they perceive Normandy 44 to have been, then at least let and aid the community to clean it up Edited November 9, 2021 by Brigg
Walshtimothy
In case others are put off by the totally crap looking example , the actual one I would envisage looking more natural , with a runway , tents , maybe some trees on the sides etc and will be significantly smaller lol . I'd imagine it will also be destructable and hence actual airfields can be destroyed with sufficient firepower... but I would need some ed support to enable cratering etc as I am no modder , learning as I go here. Thanks for support chaps and again , the main aim is to add extra airfields and this would be ancillary to this main request as noted by Phil styles at the start if this thread. 2 walshtimothyWW2 virtual flier - currently playing on 4ya ww2 - youtube channel here https://www.ww2adinfinitum.blog - https://projectoverlord.co.uk/
