I am tempted to try this, but with 2.7 coming out soon it will be a whole new ball of wax.

Try it! Its very easy to install and very easy to remove. Done in a few seconds. You'll probably enjoy the wait for 2.7 a bit more with it 🙂

It definitely works - much clearer view in flight. I have a slight increase (approx 0.4) in GPU and CPU median frametimes.  But this might be in the "margin of error"
So for the moment I will keep it enabled and will do more testing.

I've been playing around and also dialled back the contrast and saturation slightly, but increased the sharpening. The increased sharpening to my eyes at least alleviated some of the "blur" I experienced when first moving to VR from 2D and the textures now seem more inline with how they appeared to me in 2D. It doesn't really help with MFD text tbh but certainly cockpit textures, taxiway, apron, runway and general scenery look far better and crisper to me:

PreprocessorDefinitions=
Techniques=VRSharpenColor@VR_CAS_Color.fx
TechniqueSorting=VRSharpenColor@VR_CAS_Color.fx

[VR_CAS_Color.fx]
Brightness=0.999000
CASContrast=0.700000
Contrast=1.001000
MaxDelta=0.100000
Saturation=1.100000
Sharpening=1.800000

It may not be to everyones taste but that's why there's a config file to "tweak" 🙂

It looks like it causes around a 1ms increase in my GPU frametime too, so not really performance impacting (at least wiith the limited testing I;ve undertaken).

Is there a way to redduce gamma or haze during day with this mod? or add some other... if I lower gamma to correct level at Day, the night are quite darker. Not balanced gamma levels during day/night...

I don't think this mod does gamma... but you can toggle between your own presets for the other stuff.

Possibly, but unless they overhaul the render engine it will still be DX11 and use deferred rendering, so it should still work. Don't think Vulkan is part of the intial 2.7 release as far as we know. And trying it amounts to about 5 minutes of effort 👍

so for me, adding in the Shaders mod in addition to this, reduces enough of the edge conditions especially on the carrier for it to be worthwhile, with 2xMSAA, i am no longer getting 90, but the edge cases where 45 drops out are almost eliminated YMMV

Just tried this mod, and it really looks good!  I'm going to do a little tweaking as well, but so far, it seems like a keeper.  thanks OP!

As I said to you earlier, I can’t take the horrible vertical/horizontal line shimmer/breaking up on the Hornet DDIs with the Shaders mod. Good example is the A2A radar.
Shame as I did see some frame time improvements.
If you want to see sub 45fps, try the Spit train strafe IA mission and see what happens when you’re down low firing at the train.

I tried your settings, and I do like the sharpening .  This MOD is incredible!  I'm going to tinker with the saturation & contrast a little, but your sharpening value really seemed to make things pop for my G2.  🙂

So weird though, I mean for me me the radar lines are z shaped with the Shaders mod, but totally straight without it.

Yeah, that effect is definitely exaggerated with the shader mod enabled, I'm using a gray scale DDI and LCD mod so not sure how it compares to the standard DDI's. But for me personally the other benefits (less shimmering etc) outweigh it.

I see no difference whatsoever on shimmering with the mod. Looks the same. As I said above, weird how things can be so different for people with very similar hardware.

It is strange for sure, most noticeable for me is without the mod the area around the IFEI and jett station select panel is pretty bad.Also the shadows under the other aircraft on the apron. Again, in Caucasus ROR. Who knows, I guess "whatever works" ultimately 👍

I was amazed at the extra clarity when I first got my G2 but I'm even more amazed how this mod makes it even sharper! It's like if you wear glasses and you wipe a smudge from the lenses. You can see how it brings out the texture and detail in the aircraft skin, even when just looking at the main menu wallpaper. I didn't like the extra colour saturation but turning saturation down to 1.0 in the settings seems to keep the colour levels the same.

Interestingly, although less noticeable, it also sharpens the image in 2D, so it might even be of interest to those who play in pancake mode.

So, I tried this, but DCS just crashes on start up. I simply unzipped into my bin folder. Carefully deleted all the files and back to normal now. Any ideas why?

Yep, works the same on monitor, but it's not really needed. One of the great things about this mod is the End key easy switch on/off.  I always keep it off on monitor.

Would this work with the Rift S? (Or any headset that doesn't use Steam VR?)

For me it doesn't. It saturated the colour (more yellowish) when in 2D, within the RiftS... nothing.

And for what it's worth, if i turn down the saturation in 2D it gets to a level like standard DCS. So... why bother?

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind combat pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
